Ed Wood DVD on eBay. Bootlegger?
I was wondering if anyone here has purchased an Ed Wood DVD from the seller here. I already own the DVD but figured I'd check to see what it is going for lately and saw multiple auctions by this guy.
He seems like an obvious bootlegger to me because he selling lots of these DVDs and Star Wars. Not to mention him buying a bunch of DVD shrink wrap bags.

what does that icon mean next to his seller name? does that mean he's changed names or accounts recently?

I put my personal copy up for sale.
Now, it's ending today, right before three of his frickin bootlegs.
He has effectively ruined my legitimate auction.

Too bad eBay does give a crap!

I don't think this guy can legally get away with this, if this is really a bootleg auction. He's auctioning his item as the official Ed Wood DVD (including UPC), so if it's not, the buyer can dispute on Paypal, or whatever means necessary.
My guess is he may have bought a few used copies and resealed them to attract higher prices for the DVD. I'm not entirely convinced it's a bootleg.

Be careful out there, folks. Read feedback. Buy from reputable sellers only.

Likely, the only reason you see the valid UPC # is the he is using eBay's new "pre-packaged" auction pages.

Come on guys, just because he probably got a few copies of the Star Wars Trilogy early doesn't make him a bootlegger. He's just trying to share his windfall with us.

100% completely boots... As the others have said, no one has that many copies of Ed Wood at this point in the game... And he's selling Star Wars boots. Nothing but Ed Wood and Star Wars. If THAT'S not enough to convince you... Take a look at this auction that the seller won > http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=4165006682

OMFG, look at the dude who's bidding on the shrink bags!!! It's the same dude selling all the bootleg Ed Wood and SW DVDS. The bastards... Man, ebay buyers are so gullible. I don't know who's more stupid, the people bidding on this guy's bootleg crap or the guy selling the bootlegs while buying shrinks bag at the same time.

Dude's a bootlegger. If it was just the Ed Wood DVDs, possibly not. He could work at a store, have been hip to the recall and bought them all before his store shipped them back (or some similar scenario.) The Star Wars DVDs are the damning evidence along with the shrink wrap.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I didn't really look into it that deeply. On the surface it COULD be legit, which is exactly what the seller is hoping for. When you look into it, it's obviously quite questionable. Either way, I won't be buying anything from the seller.
I just hope those who go through with the transactions will either see that something is fishy, or invest in the buyer protection offered by Paypal and the various other payment services.
Sorry if my response seemed uneducated. I was just giving the seller the benefit of the doubt. Even so, I don't agree with his practices, even if he were selling legit USED copies and resealing them himself. I do strongly believe that the seller is bootlegging now, based on your information.
In response to the UPC thing -- there would have to be a way to void the transaction based on this if you receive anything other than the legit version of the DVD. In effect, it's like trying to buy a special edition DVD and getting the bare bones. It's not the right product, regardless. Regarding the pre-packaged auction pages, I guess I was unaware that this was doable. I know you could "sell similar item" or input the UPC when you list, but either way... he's misrepresenting his item.

I still do. Exactly a dozen of them, but I haven't put any in a month because bootlegers like him are ruining my auctions. And I'm really pissed because ebay doesn't care at all, as long as they get their share of the pie.

After seeing everybody sell their Ed Wood for $75+ last week, I decided to put my sealed copy up for sale.
Got a paltry $46 for it. That's ok, bought it for $39.99. No big deal.
Didn't see it years ago, didn't have to see it now.
