ID4--ticket for Day After Tomorrow??

Hey all,

Was going to pick this up becuase (believe it or not) I still haven't seen it and it has a ticket to the Day After Tomorrow which I'm DEFINITELY seeing.

However, now Dvdfile is saying that the ticket only pays for up to $6.95 on the price. Is this true??? I thought they were always for a completely free ticket??

I believe all of the DVDs with a 'free ticket' is just movie cash up to a certain price point.

In many parts of the country, $6.95 would do it, especially for those "bargain matinees"..... sorry, it's part of the price we pay for being New Yorkers.

I never saw this before. When I used it on Xmen 2, it paid for the whole thing. I've never seen one that didn't.

I have never noticed this before either, but it does make sense that there would be a limit to price. That limit is pretty low by today's standards, however. Matinees in my area cost $6.50, with regular showings going for $8.50.

Those cheap bastards. $6.95 doesn't pay for squat in any major city. I used the moviecash for some other movies - Two Towers, a few others and they were up to $10.00

I'm quite happy with the 6.50. It's better than a poke in the eye.

I was going to see Day After Tomorrow regardless, so now I'll have more $$ for the concession stand!

Here in So Cal, $9.00 is standard. $18 for me and the wife.

And people wonder why we collect DVDs.

Not to turn this into a thread about ticket prices but there's one theater in NYC that dropped to $8.99 for prices. I'm thinking they upped the prices at their concession stand though.

Another theater is now raised to $10.25.

And remember...we don't get matinees.

Regardless, I'm still not sure what I'm doing about ID4. I'm pretty pissed off that it's only $6. I wonder if it will be the same for Bourne Identity and Spider-man.

The last few I've gotten have stated "free child admission or up to $6.95 off an adult admission." Which is the only reason I saw Scooby Doo 2 at the theaters. Ugh.

The ticket says...

* Valid for $6.50 off 1 admission.

Expires June 29th 2004.

I got my pre-order yesterday from buy.com.

I will probably do the ID4 deal since I want ID4 and would like to see Day After Tomorrow. I think BB has ID4 for $14.99 plus the free movie ticket. Total is like $8ish which isn't too bad.

I fully admit that this is a total hijack, but I have to ask.

Why are you getting this sub-par version? The ID4 Five Star 2D SE is a wonderful edition that really smokes this supposed LE, no?

Again...see the beginning of the thread. I've never seen ID4. I was ONLY getting it for the free ticket. I saw that BB had it for $12.99 and my thinking was...since i wanted to rent it anyway and unless a polar ice cap melts I'm going to be at the opening day of Day After Tomorrow, might as well buy it for the ticket and get the movie for the price of a rental.

Either way I was going to sell the movie. If I liked it, I would get the DTS version from R3 and if I didn't like it, I'd get to sell it.

Fair enough.

Granted, I had never seen Armageddon, but still insisted on nothing less then the CC, but that is just me

Edited to add: With the way your math works out, it makes sense to get the LE, since you were both planning on renting it and seeing a movie in the theatre (something I stopped doing long ago, but that is a different discussion). Whatever works! Have fun!

I only go to Cinemark theaters here in Ohio. I don't care if it's not a great theater, it only costs $6.00 at the most, $3.50 before 6pm. They even have a "cheap" theater that is now showing stuff like Kill Bill 1, Cheaper by the Dozen and Return of the King. It's only $1.50, 50 cents before 6pm and all day Tuesday. So, anyway, even though some of my friends only go to the "high dollar" theaters because the sound is better or some crap, $6.50 is plenty for me...

Uh, anyway, uh yeah ID4 rules and I wanna see Day After Tomorrow also.

The truth of the matter is that I did not realize the newer version coming out is sub-par. I guess I may have to rethink my purchase. Thanks for the heads up!

Here is a "side-by-side" comparison for you to clear up any doubt:

The LE with the ticket still has the same anamorphic transfer and same 5.1 sound of both versions of the film and that is the most important thing, more important than extras. The $6.50 ticket will come in handy since that is what it usually cost me for a night showing.

Mr Cinema, your sig says: "George W. Bush is EVIL"

You know, I bet you think that the USA is evil too, right? That the Islamo-Fascists are just misunderstood. That Goerge Bush was actually the one who flew those planes into the twin towers...by remote control.

Oh, in case anybody is interested, here's a good article that reviews the science found in "The Day After Tomorrow". It basically states that even though the general feelings and concerns that the movie brings up are realistic, the problem is however that instead of global warming creating an ice age, it'll actually make the world...wait for it...WARMER.

Holy randomness batman. Tangent much?

But since this is my thread, I can say that I pretty much agree with that.

Got my Day after Tomorrow ticket with ID4 today. It says valid for up to $6.50 off but it says $1.00 in the box on the check. What's up with that?

I picked up ID4 Limited Edition ONLY for the Day After Tomorrow ticket. It's $14.99 at FYE- $7.00 (mail in rebate)- $6.50 (Day After Tomorrow)=$1.50. I know I'll be able to pawn off the DVD for quite a bit more than $1.50, worth while for me and I get to see Day After Tomorrow for free.

Sorry to mods, but when someone calls my president "satan" or "evil", a little elaboration is needed.

The French-looking Kerry is a naive loof.

That's to help the kids that work the box office figure out how to record the redemption value of the ticket. (Seriously) The studios want them all filled out the same, so they put an example.
