Aiken in Aladdin

I did a search and found nothing, so allow me to give you the wonderful news

From DavisDVD.com

Sweet merciful crap. It's just been revealed that "American Idol" also-ran Clay Aiken will lend his pipes to singing the deleted musical sequence "Proud of Your Boy" for Disney's two-disc Aladdin Special Edition. Maybe Ruben can insert himself into Mary Poppins for an encore (no, not like that). The Aladdin DVD is due on October 5th.

Seems like a smart move on Disneys part. Putting an "american idol" in a popular childrens film, but I for one will skip over this new song.

PixyJunket 05-10-04 11:36 AM

The new sequence in Beauty and the Beast was excellent, the one in Lion King wasn't.. but they've all so far had to option to watch it without so I don't see why that would change.

candyrocket786 05-10-04 11:39 AM

Well.....the good news is the song will not be intergrated into the film.

The Bad News(for me): Since my gf is a hardcore claymate I will probably have to hear the damn song over and over and over again. -eek-

I have yet to see the new sequence in Beauty and the Beast, I have only seen the Lion King one which was horrible. As long as they keep the option to watch with or without then ill be happy

Groucho 05-10-04 11:44 AM

"Take off your clothes!"

DRG 05-10-04 03:27 PM

I wonder if they'll add THIS song as well?

Warning: contains dirty words!

I thought that the point of "American Idol" was that the winner would have what it takes to become a popstar . . . not the winner will be constantly crammed down our throats until we finally agree to accept them as a pop culture idol.

Kris81 05-10-04 07:21 PM

what's wrong with Clay? he's got a great voice & i don't know how he wasn't found before...

fumanstan 05-10-04 07:35 PM

No real big deal because when i think about it, he's not a bad singer and i think his voice would fit in.

illennium 05-10-04 07:55 PM

Clay Aiken's CD is readily available for $3 new in my area. Nice to see trash end up in the bins.

What's even worse is that he wasn't the winner...

Drexl 05-10-04 08:58 PM

Now we just need William Hung in Mulan.

Sir_Fireboard 05-10-04 09:00 PM

Great. Now I won't be able to truthfully say I don't own anything that has him on it.

joshualane 05-10-04 09:46 PM

A question for those ragging on Clay Aiken...

<s>Are you this much of an a**hole naturally or does it come with practice?</s> - <i>watch the attacks!</i>

If you're not a fan, fine, that's your call, but no one is FORCING you to watch or enjoy this new song/segment of Aladdin. There's a reason it's called an EXTRA.

Judge Dredd 05-11-04 12:11 AM

GOD NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why does Disney ruin good movies like this? I was nine years old when this movie came out, and this movie is part of my childhood and to see a new (and interesting) scene included into the movie with a crappy dumb ass singer like Clay Aiken!

I can't stand this ugly ugly ugly man, God why?

he could perform "she bangs" at the party at the end of the movie.

It's called "being Americans with the freedom to say whatever we want about whatever mediocre, bad-haired, jug-eared, flash-in-the-pan we want to," and there's not a thing you can do about it. :) Have a great day.

I read that Disney will finally be releasing Song Of The South, also featuring a new song. Enjoy the mellifluous three-part harmonies of director Spike Lee, Reverend Jesse Jackson, and famed attorney Johnnie Cochran singing the next Disney classic song, "Tar-what?!?"

Well I would kind of like to watch the deleted scene. But it is quite obvious they are cashing in on what is hot at the moment. Why? Money. It isn't about Clay's talent, no matter what the voices in your head tell you.

And this is exactly the point I'm trying to make. There's a fine line between having an opinion and just being rude. Never once did I state I was a Clay Aiken fan, but you decided to be rude anyway.

Perhaps they're responding to the sentence quoted..?

While you have a point about "Extras" being just that [lord knows I skip all those HORRID Raven "cover videos"], I guess it was overlooked thanks to your sarcastically rude hypothetical question.

Hate to burst your bubble but that's EXACTLY what a popstar is.

Am I missing something? Your first post in this thread calls people '*******s'. But *other* people are the rude ones? ooooookay...

Pants 05-11-04 03:14 PM

Will those of you who actually like Clay Aikan please not post about it, it makes the whole forum look bad.

Yes, of course, I'M the bad guy now for trying to stick up for someone everyone is bashing. -rolleyes-

Actually joshualane, you just stepped into a pile of :crap:
<P>Before I get rolling here, I just want to point out to you that my post did not bash Clay Aiken specifically. My post was a shot at American Idol and how they are constantly forcing the contestants on us to prove that they were right.
<P>Now, down to the brass tacks . . . Since I'm an arsehole: I'm sorry if I rudely struck a homophobic chord in your resounding desire to have, cherish, and love everything Clay Aiken. However, he may be a no talent hack or the world's most masterful songbird, I don't know and I don't care. I don't have a clue what he looks like or sounds like and I will die a happy man if I never find out. PS -- You must either be a blood relative or someone who is bound and determined to have your name associated with "stalker."
<P>Damn it feels good to act like a kindergartner sometimes.

That's why I directed my thread towards "those ragging on Clay Aiken" ...your thread didn't, so you shouldn't feel the need to attack me... but don't worry, I'll hold back the tears.

Again, I never directed my statements towards you since you weren't ragging on him. Also, your use of "homophobic" isn't quite accurate in your insult. That would mean that I am afraid of gay people. You probably would have wanted to use "homosexual" here to insinuate that I'm either gay or have gay tendencies.

By simply sticking up for someone I'm a "stalker"? Uh huh...

Wait a sec...my phone is ringing:

me: Hello?
Clay Aiken: Hi. This is Clay Aiken.
(long, uncomfortable pause)
me: ...and?
Clay Aiken: Will you do me a favor and tell joshualane thanks for sticking up for me on that website? My career hinged on whether or not someone stepped up and put in a good word when they did.
me: I'm sorry. You've apparently mistaken me for someone who actually gives a royal rat's rectum. I gotta go, dude.
Clay Aiken: Wait! Don't forget to buy Aladdin!.....
me: (click)

Poster 1: I think this singer sucks.
Poster 2: Me too... I wish he'd go away.
Poster 3: You're both arseholes.

Who's being rude here? The 2 posters 'bashing' (one could also say 'expressing an opinion') about a singer/movie/TV show/actor/whatever? I don't think so.

DVDTalk's rules are pretty clear about this. Everyone else is just expressing an opinion. What you did was a personal attack.

ReduxGuy 05-12-04 11:52 AM

Holy God.

Well, there's another classic film ruined now (thank you very much, Disney and Clay Aiken).

Let's not get melodramatic. This doesn't ruin the film at all, since it won't be part of the film.

Don't go to Special Features, and choose "Clay Aiken Video", and your world will be restored.
