First Blood SE Re-release

I was reading through the may/june issue of DVD ETC and I came across an interview with the president of Lions Gate Entertainment. In that interview he mentions that a new special edition of First Blood is coming later this year with the alternate ending where
Spoiler:
Rambo kills himself
. He also said the ending will not be integrated into the film. It would be restored and can be viewed as a separate feature.

I'd buy this - I never knew that a scene like that was shot.

Interesting alt ending. I guess I will pick this up when it comes out since I don't already have it.

Thanks for the info

If I watch the alternate ending, will my Rambo 2 and Rambo 3 DVDs melt?

Isn't this already available on the First Blood DVD? I remember watching a feature about this alternate ending.

I never knew a scene like this was shot, either. But doesn't Col. Troutman kill Rambo in the book? I know Kirk Douglas played Troutman until he got frustrated with Stallone and walked off the movie...now those are the deleted scenes I'd like to see!

stinkeye,

Rambo doesnt blow himself up. Troutman shoots him, like Shannon said.

Spoiler:
You're right, it's been a few years since I read the book. He intends to blow himself up with dynamite until he decides to shoot the sheriff, then Trautman shoots him.

I believe, however in the alternate ending in the movie Rambo commits suicide.

Since I have not picked up any of the releases yet. This is right up my alley. I have always wanted to see that alternate ending. Be great if they offered a seemless branching option

Anyway can anyone take Leonard Maltins challenge of deciphering exactly what Rambo says durring his final monologue?

They mention it on the documentary but they don't show any footage.

I actually still really like FB quite a bit. But it would have been a fantastic movie had the alternate ending been used.

I have First Blood. They talk about the "alternate" ending in what I already have. I see no reason to buy it a second time, just for this.
