There is a great rare B style poster for the 1984 that has Roddy Mcdowell with a gun drawn at his students..as you see some of them are packing knives and such.

Awsome artwork on that poster...its on ebay from time to time. I so want to get it someday.

I hope this comes out uncut on dvd soon!!..as well as 1999!

Some of the best acting ever seen in a genre film; Tim Van Patten and Perry King are simply outstanding, and are adeptly supported by McDowell, Al Waxman in his characteristic cynical cop role, and David Gardner as the no-nonsense principal; I love his gruffly delivered line near the beginning, as he spots drug dealing on the security monitor: "Security, two dopers in hallway B". One of the best moments occurs when Perry, filled with impotent rage after the confrontation with Van Patten and his petulant mother, trashes the kid's car in the underground garage. Wrong, but cathartic.

I think there is a R1 release in the offing, as I wrote it down on my "announced DVDs" list at some point, but I don't remember where I saw it or who's releasing it.

It's a much better film than its denigrated reputation suggests, although I don't like the last 20 minutes or so, when the standard overwrought revenge scenario kicks in and undermines the intelligent accumulation of tension that preceded it.
For what it's worth, Ebert gave the film ***1/2 at the time.

Class of 1984 is also available in Germany. The subtitles which are forced on the Belgian/French disc can be removed from most players with a bit a work.

Class of 1999 is available in France Australia and the UK. Very cheap in Australia and the UK.

Don't forget another actor that had a small part in this movie and went on to become a big star....Michael J. Fox

Billed simply as Michael Fox. Yeah, but he was fairly bad in that movie.

I knew that 'Class of 1999' had ratings problems and was edited to receive it's R-rating, but I didn't know that 'Class of 1984' also had a similiar rating's game with the MPAA

from Imdb:

US R-Rated version has been censored in the rape scene, compared to the uncut european release.
