??Day of the Triffids?? BBC version
Hi
Some place, some where I found the info that the BBC version of Day of the Triffids
series would be released on 6/30/2004.
I have forgotten where I saw this.
Does anyone know of this release?
Thanks
Randy

indeed.I've seen nothing about this (and this is one of those 'holy grail' titles that I've been waiting for). Was this a Region 2 release?
I'm waiting for this, along with The Tripods Series 2, so I can finally retire my bootlegs. Any info would be appreciated.

No info other than what I wrote before. I cannot find ANY info on this and I do remember that THE TRIPODS were mentioned, but I cannot remember how. My brain has turned to mush since I have 4 teenagers.
Sorry

ACK! This is one of the few remaining titles that I'm looking for... All I have is a VCD set I made, from a VHS copy of Beta recording I made off of cable TV back in 1982.

The BBC release of Triffids was June 30, 2003.
I bought it from this U.S. e-tailer
http://www.xploitedcinema.com/dvds/dvds.asp?title=1135 The aspect ratio is 2.35:1 and the disc does have optional English subtitles. The audio is English and it's a PAL DVD. I have no complaints about the image quality: I just wanted to see the film in its original aspect ratio.

The upcoming "Triffids" release is from ABC in Australia (region 4).
There has been some concern, however, that this might actually be the feature film and not the mini-series.
Why? Because when the BBC released the film last year, fans speculated for months thinking it would be the TV series (in fact, some online sources mistakenly reported it was the mini), but in all actuality, the BBC simply release the feature film (although they DID remaster it).
The mini-series is, reportedly, mired in copyright problems (which had prevented a previous release), perhaps because it was an Australian/US/UK co-production, and perhaps because another company currently owns "format" rights.
The fact that the ABC was one of the three co-producers leaves hope, however, that it will be the TV seires this time.
Also, re: Tripods. Only series one is available from Second Sight in region 2. The company had planned to release series 2, but ran into copyright clearance problems and were thus unable to release it.
