Me too. I'm starting to get a real headache from all of these double-dips.

Didn't the director say the first release should be a two-disc set and then the second release will be a three-disc set? So at least we have something to look forward to on July 27th (since it'll probably be the only release of the theatrical cut).

At least theyre telling us about multiple releases like with Black Hawk Down, Hellboy, LOTR, and Kill Bill among others. Imagine the headache if we never knew about any multiple releases.

This movie was such a huge bomb I'm surprised it's getting a release at all.

That said, if you liked Blade 2, you'll probably like Hellboy (which is, IMHO, the better film).

sadly im gonna have to say now. i loved blade 2, probably my favorite action film of all time. but hellboy was boring, silly, poorly done and just confusing. blade 2 was like a hard kick in the pants, fun and exciting and brutal. hellboy just made me wish it was over sooner

I'm surprised you'd make a comment like that, Groucho... it's made about $60 million since its opening (almost its budget) and stands to do well overseas when it's released in other markets. It will almost certainly make more that that again with its home video release. I expect that Revolution stands to make a tidy profit, even if it wasn't the big hit they expected.

Tough to say for sure you would like Hellboy if you enjoyed Blade 2...They are similar, but not.

By that I mean the look is similar (same director, both filmed in Prague)

The subway team search was pretty much a copy of Blade 2's sewer mission (trying to be vague here, but the really are much alike)

The final villian also reminded me of the alternate Blood God scene in Blade 1 (which Del Torro had nothing to do with, but it was kind of odd)

Personally I feel Blade 2 is one of the best action movies ever made (behind Terminator 2) but I was very disappointed with Hellboy:

There is a real lack of strong villians (In fact, only one in the group even fights)

Hellboy doesn't really ever DO anything--I am not familar with the comics, so maybe this is acurate...But all he does is punch things with his big hand, and make wisecracks while getting his ass kicked. He is also fireproof, but nothing substantial is done with this.

No violence or gore.

To keep this on topic, I would be interested in an extended cut in the proposed 3 disc set IF they make it a more R-rated affair. They need to add at least one good fight scene (the thatrical cut has NONE), More backstory of Hellboy (including WHY he chose to be a good guy),and do something different with the final conflict, which was just rediculously bad.

It's Columbia/Tri-Star. They need to release the first DVD ASAP so they can start working on ways to milk us for multiple editions after the first release.

The first time I saw Hellboy, I was completely disappointed. So I saw it again (in fact, about 40 minutes ago). Some movies that I don't really like the first time grow on me upon a second viewing. For example, the first time I saw Underworld, I was bored beyond belief and disgusted with everything except the cinematography. So I watched it again and hated it even more. I can't say that I hated Hellboy, but my feelings mirror yours almost completely. I'm glad I'm not alone. Watching it a second time only proved that it could have been much, much better.

Sorry for what might be perceived as a threadcrap. Just a word to those who haven't seen Hellboy: make it a rental first.

I thought Hellboy was fun, nice way to kill a few hours. And I love the opening sequence. I'll probably pick it up when it comes out. I don't know if I need the Hellboy Ultimate Special Collector's Extremely Limited Edition DVD or not.
