What are the typical level of extras for a TV show on DVD?
Until "Freaks and Geeks" was released I had abstained from buying any TV shows on DVD. I bought this DVD set because of the phenominal amount of extras (commentaries, auditions, deleted scenes, etc.). I knew the extras would substantially add to my appreciation of the show and the set, as a whole, would have a high replay value.
Now, I have begun to think about purchasing other shows on DVD. I'm just wondering if it is standard for the average TV show DVD release to also contain an occasional cast commentary, some deleted scenes etc.
I realize that no TV show released up to this point, has the same level of extras as "Freaks and Geeks", but I'm hoping that bare-bones isn't typical for the majority of TV releases.
Do some of the newer shows like
"Alias", "24", and even "Friends" have
cast commentaries?
Of course, I would strongly consider purchasing some older shows if I knew
they would come with a load of extras.
It would certainly be interesting to hear Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Larry Matthews and Rose Marie d commentaries for some of the "DVD"
episodes.
Feel free to mention any TV shows that are full fo extas and/or those that are severely lacking.

Never heard of searching for a review?
For example:
Alias - Season 1
Alias - Season 2
24 - Season 1
24 - Season 2

TV on DVD is so hit right now that studios are clamoring to put out stuff. Some are taking their time and putting out extra features packed releases, and others are just putting the show on DVD, and leaving it at that. Price becomes a factor a lot of the time, and bare bones TV releases tend to be pretty cheap compared to jam packed editions.
Just from my personal collection, I can name a few:
Mad About You S1 & S2: Nothing but the show itself. Bare bones.
NYPD Blue S1 &S2: Nice extras, including interviews, and commentaries.
ER: Same as NY, but more extras. Interviews, info, commentaries and outtakes.
Friends: Commentaries, Extra Footage not shown on TV (stull edited out for commercial space), and minor extra features in each season
Gilligan's Island: Impressive for an old show. Original pilot, commentary on it, featurettes and some other stuff
Dick Van Dyke: Commentaries, original pilot, and other stuff.
In Living Color: Interviews and a couple commentaries
Married with Children: Reunion Show is included.
Larry Sanders: Just the show.
The reviews, as mentioned above are a great resource.

The Sets that I have that are Packed with Special Features are The Alias Discs (Each Season has 4 commentaries and about 2/3 hours of behind-the-scenes stuff), the Buffy Sets (anywhere from 4 to 7 commentaries, about anywhere from 60-120 minutes of featurettes), The Simpson/Futurama (Commentary for Every Episode plus behind the scenes stuff), firefly (commentary for 8 episodes, 3 uniared episodes, 3 featurettes), and the afored mentioned freaks and geeks.
