I wouldn't necessary call this a fix. That gives the impression that some programmer has to dig into the message board's source code. They merely need to change a value within vBulletin's browser-based admin settings from 3 to 2, 1, or 0.

Maybe vBulletin doesn't have that option, or they would have changed it already? I know it's a standard "flood control" option in many other boards (ie, phpBB).

This thread has been great. Search is not a close friend. It's a "fair weather" friend. It as let me down in the past.

According to the Forum Feedback and Support forum, it is a limitation of the database that they are currently using. To fix it would require a major software upgrade.

Until then, try adding a "*" at the end of your 3-letter search. You'll likely get more matches than you intended, but it's better than none.

A good friend will wake up at 3:00 in the morning to come bail you out of jail. A BEST friend would be in the cell next to you saying "dude that was f**king awesome!"

Don't worry about the search - it's so much easier to just ignore recent posts and start your own thread!

To get around the 3 letter roadblock we should no longer allow the use of 3-letter-words in thread titles. I suggest the following replacements for common acronyms:

DVD = DVDD (just like a child would call it)

DTS = DTSS (make a snake sound when saying this)

OAR = OARR (pretend you're Jack Sparrow)

MGM = MGMM (mmm good release!)

OOP = OOPP (Out Of Print, Phooey)
