Do you loan out your DVDS?
I'm kinda iffy about loaning out anything i let a close friend of mine borrow my 2 Disc Special Edition of Texas Chainsaw Massacre(2003). When i finally got it back today the box was a lil beat up I didn't say anything, but that's the main reason i don't loan out my personal stuff.

Fortunately, my wife and I have no close friends, so this is not really an issue.
I do let my parents and her parents borrow ones, though, and so far, no major problems, as they know how I am when it comes to my collection.
I always keep track of it in the Profiler.

All of my friends are protective of their DVDs so I don't have a problem with loans. They all know how pissed they'd be if something happened to their discs so everyone's very careful.

Absolutely. I loan out stuff all the time to our close friends and I've had a 100% success rate as far as getting everything back and it being in good shape.
In the grand scheme of things, what's a $10-$20 disc when it comes to being nice to a friend?

Mine go out with disclaimers (close friends or otherwise)
1) must be back in "reasonable" time period. other's version might be 3 months .. not me.
2) mine always go out in blank amrays, so they can trash the case, but if the disc is returned with scratches and or unknown foreign substances that i'd need a scientific military field guide to explain, it never gets loaned out again .. shoot, they may as well keep it ... with a bill.
3) if it's too intense, lock up the kiddies
never had a problem and i've probably loaned out about 50 times ..
-----
however, certain DVDs do not, never .. over my lifeless body .. will ever go out such as Hard Boiled: Criterion, Robocop: Criterion or a few other OOPs that I own. otherwise, free reign. a few out of hundreds is ok. they can just watch them at my place .. simple.

I never have, nor would I, except maybe for a couple close freinds, thankfully they have little intrest in movies, and never have asked ,so I haven't had to make that choice. As for the rest I just tell them sorry.

I loan to a couple close family members & I also use a blank case to lend in. High $$$ dvds like the Freaks & Geeks set, oop dvds or other big $$$ box sets I'll show on my equipment but they don't leave my possesion.

I have a good chunk of DVDs that are untouchable to anyone but me (girlfriend included), but aside from those I loan out pretty much everything. I don't understand the whole "I won't loan out my DVDs even to friends" thing. I mean, they are my friends, they aren't going to ruin something of mine & if they do they know they would have to replace it. Haven't had a problem so far.

I won't loan out my DVDs to anyone (minus the girlfriend), just because I've had bad experiences with lending people DVDs or even CDs. They come back in really bad shape, people take forever to return them, or they don't want to return them in general.

I don't like lending out DVDs at all. I don't like how some people handle DVDs. If I knew I could get the DVD back in the EXACT same condition --- and within a reason time frame (say, one week) -- I would have no issue.

I always loan my stuff out, but a friend of mine recently gave me back the Simpsons Season 3 set, and the box was pretty beat up. I'll probably cross her name out of the 'loan list'....

"neither a borrower nor a lender be"
Forget exactly where that is in the Bible,
but I don't borrow nor do I lend - anything! Not books, not my car, not DVDs, not money!
It's a good way to LOSE RESPECT for friends!

I'm not a fan of lending out my DVD's. I quit a while back when I started to see fingerprints, or covers scratched up so I just stopped altogether. Now if someone wants to watch something, I just invite them over for a movie night or something.
