The Bourne Identity "Explosive Extended Edition" coming in July

From DVDTimes:

Universal Studios Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of The Bourne Identity Explosive Extended Edition for 13th July 2004 with a retail price of $29.98. Scheduled to coincide with the sequels theatrical release this new 'Explosive Edition' continues Universal's obsession with milking their bigger hits with ridiculously titled re-issues.

Available in separate anamorphic widescreen and full screen editions this new release loses the DTS track found on the original release but features an all-new beginning and ending along with never-before-seen bonus features...

• English, French and Spanish DD5.1 Surround
• English, French and Spanish subtitles
• The Bourne Mastermind - A compelling look at the best-selling author of the internationally acclaimed Bourne Trilogy
• Matt Damon: From Identity to Supremacy - Exclusive interviews with Matt Damon and Franka Potente explore making The Bourne Identity - and build a bridge to the spectacular upcoming sequel, The Bourne Supremacy
• The Bourne Diagnosis - A renowned UCLA psychologist probes into the intriguing case and effects of Jason Bourne's amnesia and its central role in this gripping espionage thriller
• Cloak and Dagger: Covert Ops - CIA Liaison officer Chase Brandon delivers a detailed, real-world analysis of the making of a super-spy

Ooh, lawd, talk about a nasty looking cover. That's one of the worst I've ever seen. I enjoyed this movie, so I may check this out some way or another. I am looking forward to the sequel this summer. Thanks for the info!

I'm perfectly happy with the current version. I hope the new ending isn't the "Never-Before-Seen" Alternate Ending" that is on the original disc because it was absolutely terrible, and a hundred times worse than the perfectly fine ending the film has.

Geofferson 04-19-04 01:17 PM

I agree - that cover is terrible.

chanster 04-19-04 01:21 PM

"Explosive Extended Edition" sounds like something that happens to me after I eat a burrito. The alternate ending is a piece of shit.

marty888 04-19-04 01:56 PM

I'll pass....

matome 04-19-04 02:01 PM

No thanks. When are they going to release "The No-****ing-Forced Trailer" editions?

Ergyu 04-19-04 02:08 PM

Jesus christ, who comes up with the names of these things? A bus full of retards? Goddamn, I don't need all that extra shit anyway, I'll stick with the current one kthxbi.

EvilConradBain 04-19-04 02:14 PM

Just in time for The Bourne Supremacy.

digitalfreaknyc 04-19-04 02:15 PM

Grrrrrrrr...

Maybe if they kept the DTS I'd consider it. Otherwise...no thanks.

Aphex Twin 04-19-04 02:15 PM

I'll pick it up if it has a Matt Damon weiner shot.

NaturalMystic79 04-19-04 02:46 PM

The current release has an excellent transfer and DTS soundtrack, will not double dip on this.

Simpson Purist 04-19-04 02:47 PM

I think I'll skip this one, the current version will suffice.

LBCrazyFool 04-19-04 02:55 PM

No thanks. If it had DTS then maybe, just maybe...

BlackBeauty92 04-19-04 02:57 PM

no DTS?!?!

>*middle finger to Universal*<

wordtoyamotha 04-19-04 03:04 PM

The original post was incorrect. The correct title is The Bourne Identity: Beneath the Crust of the Tricked Out Edition

Willh51 04-19-04 03:05 PM

Um....no. I'll keep my dvd which is good as it is. Why the hell do they need a rerelease, its already a loaded C.E. Anyway, the "explosive" shit is probably just the alternate stuff on the dvd already. What a waste...

NaturalMystic79 04-19-04 03:06 PM

Or Bourne Identity : Exposive Diarrheia Edition"

Pelayu 04-19-04 03:12 PM

No DTS, no purchase!!! What the f*** were they thinking about??? :) Damn it, Universal, damn it!

EskimoJoe 04-19-04 03:56 PM

I like the cover, but I will not be buying.

eau 04-19-04 03:58 PM

I am happy with the original edition.

Kant 04-19-04 04:19 PM

I knew this was comming! Universal always does this when a new film in the series comes out.
Why can't they release a proper version of The Thing instead?

I happy with mine, dts and outstanding transfer. Also a informativ commentary.

xfilekr 04-19-04 04:28 PM

geez......this type of rerelease is the most annoying.....pass

RN2BE 04-19-04 04:53 PM

Aren't they doing the same thing with Pitch Black?

I'll stick with the current version... I do hope Universal packs free tickets to their sequals though, like they did with TFATF, since I don't have Pitch Black yet.

flashburn 04-19-04 05:20 PM
