Terror in the Aisles on DVD??
When will this short horror anthology be released on DVD? It shows the best clips from The Shining, Halloween, and The Amityville Horror.

Well considering it is a bunch of clips, I'm sure Universal would have a field day trying to re-establish all the proper rights to all of the films. I remember thinking how pointless this 84 minute hodge podge was when I saw it on video. I doubt you'll see this on DVD... each company that holds the rights to each film would rather have you purchase each whole film.

I remember reading that the filmmaker's had to splice out an entire sequence from the film on the advancement of SFX and graphic violence that the MPAA wouldn't grant the film an R-rating if they retained it.
I was one of the few who actually saw this in the theatre.

They only showed clips from rated R movies, so how could it have been necessary to edit it for an R? Who were the hosts- Donald Pleasance & Nancy Allen? I also think it would be hard to get the rights for all the movies shown. It Came From Hollywood was announced a while back, then quickly cancelled because of the same problems. I prefer that one, which showed old sci-fi, Ed Wood, Reefer Madness, etc & was hosted by John Candy, Cheech & Chong, Gilda Radner & Dan Aykroyd. I was bummed when that was cancelled.

Well since it showed alot of violent clips from R rated films, having a barrage of them one after the other may have made the MPAA give it an X...or they may have showed some uncensored versions of gore effects..& thus it was threatened with an X rating?
Would be interesting to see whatwas cut either edited back into the film or as a supplement.

I remember seeing DAWN OF THE DEAD listed in the "film clip" end credits of TITA although there were no scenes from DAWN actually in the film. That could easily have been some of the scenes cut to get an R (especially since DAWN was unrated).
I saw this thing theatrically as well and always thought it was pretty lousy - and those host sequences are terrible. Maybe it works better for mainstream audiences unfamiliar with most of the clips and films, but for any seasoned horror buff, it's pretty run-of-the-mill.

I have'nt seen it since I was a kid. But I always felt the 'host' & audience segments were so lame, since they were obviouslly scripted..instead of the 'real' thing which they claimed.
As for the clips,I remember being mixed on it. Some of it worked, while others did not. So a mixed bag all around. May have to see it again sometime to better critique it today.

Everytime I think of Terror in The Aisles, I'm reminded of Paramount's It Came From Hollywood, which shows clips of cult films and was hosted by John Candy, Dan Ackroyd, Gilda Radner and Cheech and Chong. It was supposed to be released on DVD mid 2002 and then was dropped. I'm hoping Paramount puts it back on the release schedule.
