How are the featurettes? I'm assuming that the commentary track is the same as on the original MGM release, so really wonder if buying this new release is much of an "upgrade".

The Digital Bits mentioned this in their rumor mill a couple of weeks back, and then confirmed the release date last week.

Honestly, it doesn't look like that much of a big deal... looks to be virtually identical to the existing disc, unless I'm missing something.

Yup, added it to my wishlist last week...

As for the disc and what's new... It has a new anamorphic transfer, the previous DVD is letterboxed with no 16X9 enhancement... That's all I need.

Adding to my list too.

Considering the low list price, I'd almost double dip just for the cover alone; the old one is so very ugly, and this new one looks really cool.

But I'm not gonna double dip anytime soon; I hate to support studios putting out new versions of stuff just because of marketing, and this is just being put out because they're promoting the re-make.

How did you guys NOT know about this is my question? I read about this coming to promote the remake with Denzel Washington. I ordered it when the DDD first 20% off coupon came out and got it for $7.30.

I'm glad WB is finally treating some of these classics with decent restorations and added SE material! Woo-hoo!

I bought it yesterday at best Buy for $9.99. I've never seen it before but heard lots of good things about this film.

It doesn't blow the original way, but if you have a Widescreen TV I'd say that's it's well worth $10.

I got the original release, on the cheap, a few months back... I'm happy with it. No upgrade needed.

I bought the new version on Tuesday as both a blind buy and as a gift for my father.

It's an excellent film.

Hmmm, I've never seen this movie but I have seen the trailer, and it looks really good. I might give this one a look
