Hee Haw on DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG!!!!! THE HOLY GRAIL!!!!!!!!!! CORNPONE HUMOR AT IT'S FINEST!!!!!!!11111111!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to watch this at my grandparent's house when I was a kid. Right after Lawrence Welk and before the Statler Brothers. I used to have the hots for Nurse Goodbody. There are so many classic bits I could list but I'll let all of you.
Who's gettin' this 'un?
I think I'll pass. Maybe a rental in honor of G&G.

Last November, we told you that Time-Life Video had began advertising the Best of Hee Haw Collection via direct sale, and consumers could purchase the "Hee Haw Premiere Episode plus FREE BONUS Hee Haw Laffs".
Now Time-Life is making that particular combo deal available to the general home video market for the first time, and along the way they are changing the packaging. The Hee Haw Collection DVD release features both the premiere episode of the show - featuring Loretta Lynn and Charley Pride - and the "Laffs" compilation of "the best one-liners from the cornfield".
All told it's 80 minutes of fun, for a mere $14.95 SRP. And it has a street date of May 18th, so you won't have that long to wait. Here's a look at the new box design:

I'll definitely take a look at this. For all of its corniness, a lot of sophistication actually went into making it look that way. I thought we'd never see a release from this show because of the music rights issues.
I don't need complete seasons (near impossible since this ran for 25 years), but a Carson Collection style compilation would be quite nice.
Buford mentioned "The Statler Brothers Show". I have actually had a conversation with one of the owners of the show about getting these released. At this point, they know there is interest in this show, but they're trying to figure out the best way to release these. Again, because of the diversity of guest stars on this show, music rights are an issue.

The $14.95 list price for only 80 minutes kinda turned me off but I checked DeepDiscountDVD and it is only $7.19 there with free shipping so I went ahead and put my order in. Thank you Buford T Pusser for starting this thread.

Received "The Hee Haw Collection" from DDD today and it is not the new one due out in May. The DDD website listed the DVD with a bar code# of 61058330149 and I thought that was the new one but they shipped to me instead bar code # 1058330109 The DVD does have the first episode and is by Time-Life but no extras(it lists a running time of 50 minutes). I "only" paid 7 bucks for it and I want to watch it tonight so I'll just keep it I guess.
here is what I ordered, different bar code# shipped

If the price is right, I'd snag one of these!
On a related note, when I hear about Hee-Haw, I'm reminded of those Ted L. Nancy books where he wrote to people telling them he was a porn star who looked exactly like Roy Clark.

Ok, I've watched the 50 minute version I got from DDD which has just the first episode and not with the extra "Laffs compilation" that will be added to the May release but the DVD is fun-fun-fun! Junior Samples is a riot! Watching the "Culhanes" sit on the couch and deliver their lines blew my mind...also blew my mind with "I'm a pickin' and I'm a grinnin'"... "Hey, Grandpa! What's for supper?"...Minnie Pearl saying loudly- "HOWDY!" Amazing how many routines we grew up with were developed starting with the very first show. I should mention this particular DVD does have an "extras" feature on the DVD menu but it is just gimmick stuff like the "cornfield Knee-slappers" is just a text page recap. Anyway, best 7 bucks I've spent on a DVD and I plan to buy the May release also to get the real bonus extras, what the heck.

Now we're not ones to go 'round spreadin' rumors
Why really we're just not the gossiping kind
No you'll never hear one of us repeating gossip
So you better be sure and listen close the first time

I have to admit I'm curious to see how well this has aged over the years. I'll keep my eyes open for that first episode disc at the used places I frequent.

Another Volume!
The first shipped today from Netflix. Anyone seen it?
Hee Haw - Johnny Cash anchors Vol. 2, arriving in stores this August

Are you ready for more Korn from the citizens of Kornfield County? The whole Hee Haw gang is back, this time with very special guest star Johnny Cash. The "man in black" covers familiar territory with one of his old favorites, Big River, as well as the ever-popular City of New Orleans. Plus Grand Ole Opry star Jean Shepard revisits her two honky-tonkin' hits from 1973, Slippin' Away and Come on Phone. But that's not all. The Andy Griffith Show's regular George "Goober" Lindsey sings, swings and dances his way through the good old jug-band tune Mountain Dew!
This is the second volume in the Hee Haw Collection series (get details about Vol. 1 by clicking here). Vol. 2 lists at $14.95 for 50 minutes of fun, and arrives on August 31st. Here's an early look at the cover art; we only have it in black-and-white for the moment, but the final version will be in color:
