the Last Unicorn. Is there a widescreen version that will play on my R1 player?

I'm a fan of Last Unicorn. I remember being small, and seeing it at the local theatre, and just falling in love with it.

I'm 29 now, and still in love with the film. It just came out on dvd, and the release is a shame to the film - P&S and iffy sound.

I've seen some widescreen releases on eBay, but feel kinda iffy about those as well because I'm not quite sure if they are legit or not.

Anyway, what I'm asking is if anyone owns, or knows where I could get a widescreen version that will play on my normal region 1 player.

Or will I have to suffer with this bad P&S version?

Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no official widescreen version available that is R1 or R0. The ones on eBay all seem to be bootlegs made from the German R2 edition.

I agree... what Artisan has done with this film is a travesty. Especially when the German DVD is so impressive.

i have the r2 german retail release and it is fantastic..one reason i got a region free player...but i think the boots on eBay are supposed to be very good copies..ones that you could hardly tell. i know because i asked people who bought them when i was thinking of getting...you can take that as you will..they are cheap no? but look for the real cover art. so really not losing too much and i think either way better than the hack job of the R1 which i unfortunately own as well.

I'd hate to support bootleggers, but if that is my only option, I may have to do it. Artisan has left me no choice.

I can't play all regions, so ordering a R2 isn't possible.

I strongly suspect that A is treating this like a children's title
It is a shame since it is one of the best fantasy movies ever made.
I can't wait for the live action version being made to be released.
