What's the deal with DVDPriceSearch?

Of the DVDs in which I'm interested that were announced in the last several weeks, none has been added to the DPS database.

Why is it not being updated?

I've noticed some of the lesser known titles take awhile to show up. What specifically were you looking for?

It would seem to me that before they would be listed on DVDPriceSearch, they first need to find their way to the various distribution points. Have you found titles you’re looking for elsewhere?

The biggest "problem" I have found with this site is that it is online prices only.

I know that this is technically not a "problem" since that what the site is intended for, but stores like Costco and SC are not included for obvious reasons even though they often beat most online prices on New releases and TV Season sets.

I find that the Bargain thread in here DVD Talk is actually the best place to find the best prices.

They are all non-commercial releases, but they have been listed at several online stores. I have always found PriceSearch to be very prompt, even with the esoteric stuff; that's why I'm puzzled.

-A Man Escaped
-Lamerica
-A Shock to the System
-All the Kind Strangers
-The Times of Harvey Milk
-Circle of Deceit
-Little Murders

For one thing, DVD Price Search only adds new titles twice a week: Mondays and Thursdays, around 1 AM, PST. Most of the ones you've listed have only been added to sites like DVD Empire and DVD Planet this past week (those two sites--along with Amazon--seem to get the jump on all the rest).

I would expect most of those to be part of the update for this coming Monday.

Well see, there's your problem. It's not DVDPricesearch. It's your offbeat taste in movies. Just start watching what all of America watches and you'll be fine. j/k Actually I buy so little online anymore I rarely use pricesearch anymore. 90% of my stuff I wait for it to hit the used shelf.

With the lesser known titles though your stuck because finding those used are harder than finding them new. I like some offbeat documentary stuff. I end up at Media Play and pay too much only because they are the only place that stocks what I need.

FilmFanSea is right on the money. The titles you are listing were all announced within the past week. Give DVDPriceSearch a few days to catch up... they don't update daily.

Not true. Several were announced two weeks ago, or longer. DPS usually enters titles, as you pointed out, within 2-3 days.

No thanks, I'm a non-conformist I have found that DPS lists virtually every title in release.

I like to use Bargainflix for DVD price searches. For, "A Man Escaped", I see 4 online store price results currently.
