Commercials on DVDs

Got another question. Hope I'm not breaking any rules.

I just bought the "High School Reunion" set that has the great John Hughes' 80s movies The Breakfast Club, Weird Science and Sixteen Candles in it.

Each DVD starts with just over three minutes of commercials - promos for the movies themselves, and some others like Animal House and some Monty Python movie.

Is there any way to skip this stuff? I couldn't find a way - I kept getting that DVD with a slash through it symbol, my player's way of telling me the disc won't let me.

I'm afraid I may not watch these because I won't want to sit through the promos.

Yes.

AS SOON AS the disc finishes loading in your player, press stop.

Then press the Menu button. The film will start playing.

Takes about two seconds. Works for most Universal discs with forced trailers.

Yep, the commercials/promos are getting old. They are shoved down our throats on cable now we are getting them on DVDs we pay for and OWN.

Eh, I think we've all be doing this for years to avoid the FBI warnings and extremely loud studio logos anyway.

But I'll give Monsieur Salty credit for bringing the concept to the masses.
