Guillermo Del Toro DVDs and Double-Dipping?

After getting back from the excellent Hellboy, and renting Cronos, I'm interested in purchasing all of the work of Guillermo Del Toro, but am concerned with double-dipping. What am I safe getting now and what should I be waiting for?

Cronos-Any chance of Lion's Gate fixing the subtitles?

Mimic- Doesn't seem like Del Toro has interest in an SE? True?

Blade 2- Seems that the 2 disc platinum series is a safe bet and leaves no chance for being revisited. True?

Devil's Backbone- I keep reading rumors of a newer SE in the summer. True?

Thanks.

I think a new Devil's Backbone is a given. I think it will come out around the same time as Hellboy, Late July.

Blade II was just Down-Graded to a Single Disc, and I believe the 2-Disc is OOP

Cronos is probally the best your gonna get. LGF doesn't do re-releases very often, even when there needed

Mimic is a big question. I haven't heard anything about it, but Disney is churning out Sequels and they are starting to re-release some of there older Bare-Bones DVDs, probally depends on the success of Hellboy

Del Toro isn't terribly fond of Mimic, so don't hold your breath for a special edition.

Yea, the Blade II 2 disc might be out of print. I'm glad I have it. I went to best buy the other week and they werent carrying the 2 disc anymore, just the 1 disc. I think the same was for Circuit City. Also the Blade II 2 disc has a crapton of extras, so I'm sure it wont be upgraded any time soon

also you can find the 2 disk on half.com for maybe under 10 bucks after shipping. there's two listings when you search for Blade 2, one is for the 2 disc, the other for the newly released 1 disc. enjoy.

Has this been officially announced anywhere? I was about to order the current release.

Beware some of those half.com BLADE 2 DVDs. Like on eBay, some of those might be "boots" or weird imports that work on Region 1 (Region Free?).

Or they could have been mistakenly posted in the wrong section(i.e. they send you the 1 disc instead of the 2 disc).

I dunno, the 1-2 sentence descriptions with the Stock Info/Cover Art to the left make me wary.

Del Toro has already announced that Hellboy will be released twice (first edition and extended edition).

I wonder if they will re-release Blade 2 when Blade 3 comes out in December? I never really got around to picking up the 2 disc set.

Fox was one of the first companies to start the downgrading of discs, only to re-release them later. Hopefully New Line will do the same.

Checking with a major national supplier, the 2-Disc Blade II is still listed as in-print.

I've just met Del Toro. Coolest guy you could ever meet.
He said that the first DVD release of HELLBOY will be a 2-disc set
with a nice amount of extras. So, not really bare bones at all.
The Limited Edition will come with some sort of HELLBOY bust with
3 discs. This release will contain 2 cuts of the movie, the theatrical as well the extended cut.

Both the 1-disc and 2-disc versions of Blade II are available from Amazon.

From seeing Hellboy that extended edition is going to be a must, at least for me.
