UPC codes?

I was wondering if there was a site where it listed UPC codes for DVDs. I have just started to put my collection in dvd profiler and I thought it was annoying in enter in every single UPC code while looking off the back of the dvd.

Dude, you need a CueCat. Scan it in and Bam it's done.
You can get them for a buck or two off ebay.

You used to be able to get them free at Radio Shack, but the company making them, Digital Convergence, went belly up. Seems there weren't enough people using them to go to the DC website to look stuff up, and web advertising took a nosedive anyway.

You can also get one free from Readerware when you buy one of their database programs ($40). I've tried a demo version of it, and it's not too bad unless you're trying to download information for hundreds of DVDs from several retail websites, in which case you may be waiting hours or days for the database to load.

So, going to a website, typing the title of the DVD in a search engine, obtaining the UPC code, switching over to DVD Profiler, and typing the UPC code in there would be less annoying than looking directly at your DVDs for a UPC code? If you don't want to pull out all of your DVDs to get the UPC, you do realize you can add them by title? DVD Profiler's own title search engine will automatically narrow down the possible titles as you type it, so you don't even have to type the whole title.

I recently ordered this:
http://www.flicscanner.com/

But am having problems with the free software dowload on their site and have put in a request to their help desk that it's not working properly as of yet.

I'm still confused by DVD Profiler's 'scanner plug in' - is it really a plug in to use or will it notice when items get scanned in by these alternate sources?

For those using a Cuecat, I had a quick question. I am going to start migrating my collection from DVD Aficionado to DVD Profiler soon.
I do have a Cuecat (USB) that I was going to use, but I have to yet to actually plug in and try the thing. Will it work right off the bat with the software or do I have to modify it it in some way?
(I know that there are custom drivers and instructions floating around to use the Cuecat. I know people used to physically modify them to disable the report functions and whatever that it used to report to the company that made them and I am aware that company is gone, so I just need to know what I need to do to making it work as a standard barcode reader.)
Thanks.

Wouldn't it be great if EVERYTHING had a UPC code? And an RFID chip?

Wow.

NotEd do not use the software that came with the cuecat. just open the plugin in the program and it should work. Also do a search at the dvd profiler board for cuecat and you will find a lot of information.

As an update on the Flicscanner I bought from the Microvision line it works perfect and is a rather a godsend for getting everything into DVD Profiler for me
