Last of the Red Hot Lovers -- an early 70s Alan Arkin vehicle written by Neil Simon -- was one of the best $5.50 I ever spent. I had never heard of it, it rated poorly on IMDb, but it was funny as hell.

Exorcist III and Wallstreet

antennaball 03-24-04 08:35 PM

Falling Down
Exorcist III
Inventing the Abbots

Jboone 03-24-04 08:40 PM

I enjoyed Go.

KappaSig1304 03-24-04 09:14 PM

The best for me are the Friends Best of sets...$22 for 20 good-looking episodes isn't bad at all.

So many to choose from!

Towering Inferno (about a year ago)
Airport (about a year ago)
Bugsy (long time ago)
Gremlins (about 5 months ago)
Wall Street (about 6 months ago)
Volunteers (about 2 months ago).

The "best" I would have to say is Towering Inferno. Gotta love 70s disaster!

Randy Miller III 03-24-04 09:21 PM

I've found Rocky II and III (no IV...darn it!!).

Miyazaki 03-24-04 09:22 PM

Pee Wee's Big Adventure

Remember that the WM version is not the SE that is available for a few dollars more elsewhere. It is a bare-bones edition, but still worthe $5.50!

I love the old disaster flicks, my faves of the bin are Poseidon Adventure and Towering Inferno. Casualties of War and Wild Things are a couple more of the better titles from the bin that i've grabbed.

My favorite bin bargain so far has been Ford Fairlane.

Some of the better ones:

Fatal Attraction CE
Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter
Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell
Tigerland
Titan A.E.
Peggy Sue Got Married
Wall Street
Snake Eyes
The Truman Show
Airheads

I have to agree with Miyazaki. Pee Wees Big Adventure is the ultimate bargain DVD.

RyoHazuki 03-25-04 07:30 AM

Suicide Kings. Audio commentary, deleted scenes, alternate endings, trailers and not to mention a great movie.

Throwing in votes for Tigerland and Falling Down.

I also got quite a few of the Nightmare On Elm St. movies a while back..

The Exister 03-25-04 08:21 AM

My favorites:

The Big Red One
Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter
Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell
Return of the Pink Panther
Frogs

Kimiakane 03-25-04 08:48 AM

I've picked up quite a few that I'm happy with...like RETURN OF THE KING, THE NEVEREDNDING STORY & NEVERENDING STORY II, etc.

But I would buy a whole lot more if I didn't have to dig through a bin. If they would set them sideways (with only the title showing)on a shelf, I would imagine I would have bought at least 75% more than I have now.

I have found:

Mute Witness
Creepshow
DarkCity
Ford Fairlane
Wild Things
Strange Days

Lots of good dvd's there lately...Very pleased

I look for this one every time I pass the discount bin. My kids even know to look for it for me.. Still no luck...

I found The Out-of-Towners (original with Jack Lemmon) there even before the reported street date. Fun film.

Last month, I bought Ringo Lam's FULL CONTACT. Turns out it cost 9.99 but still worth it as it's OOP.

My Walmarts must suck around here. I have found Wall Street, Creepshow and Rambo III which are great at $5.50.

sataniko 03-25-04 12:09 PM

Beyond Suspicion and Switchback are the best DVD's that I found in the bargain bin.

Cellar Door 03-25-04 01:35 PM

I was just as Wal-Mart last night and I couldn't pass the bargain bin without digging through it for a few minutes. I picked up THE PEACEMAKER and A LIFE LESS ORDINARY. Not wonderful films, but they entertain me.
