The THX disc is rare because you cant buy it in a store...Its intended to be given only to buyers of THX systems, and I dont even think thats a common practice...

The disc is one of the best for demo usage obviously, being the only disc (to my knowledge) to feature all THX trailers in both Dolby Digital and DTS.

Also there is a feature about THX and interviews with the people behind THX

I see the disc as a really great demo, but also as a rare collector´s item. There are many great sounding discs outthere, but being a "THX Freak" ever since I first saw the WOW! Laserdisc (Which is on the DVD as well...remixed in DTS for the first time), I wanted the Laserdisc...but never got it...But now I have the DVD, end thats even better...

The Pod Race in Star Wars Episode 1 sounds wonderful on the original DVD in 5.1 EX, but this clip on the THX DVD in DTS is just incredible...

I saw it on ebay for like $20. It looks legit and that price is well within my budget. May have to pick it up.

thanks for the info!

I don't see any legit DVD copies of this on ebay, assuming the one Danish has is real(which I'm sure it is). Notice at the top of the case in Danish's picture it says "The THX Ultimate Demo Disc" and in the picture of the $20 on ebay says "The Ultimate Demo Disc."

I was wondering when you were going to move into a new apartment. Your old livingroom was stuffed to the gills with DVDs. The setup looks a lot nicer now that you have a dedicated room for them.

Nice TV, too!

Ok, here are the pics:

And just to let you all know, I am 100 % sure that mine is a legit original DVD. I bought it from a guy working for Miller & Kreisel, and this guy absolutely would NOT sell bootlegs...EVER

Keep in mind that this disc is very rare, and its seems very unlikely, stupid and bad for business to sell the original for $20...if the deal is too good to be true, it IS to good to be true...

Some might not wanna pay $150 for this as I did, and some have paid less for an original, but I would never buy a bootleg copy of ANY DVD...let alone this one

DVD's now have their own room, (as opposed to taking over the living room).... this is one wall:

The inner 'wall'... side 1 ... and endcap unit:

Inner 'wall' ... side 2 (sorry it's so dark)... and another wall unit on the back wall:

Far wall is all CD's.

I dig that set-up over his old one. The other one was too cramped and unappealing to the eye. Looked like he had way more DVDs than he had room for. This one looks more spaced out and well-organized.

Nice try steebo777

I have now contacted a few THX certified dealers to help me decide what is fake and what is not...

Another thing...Would a bootleg disc include the Interactual Player, take up 6.3 GB of space AND include CSS/CPPM copyright protection ? I think not

Im pretty sure those are bootlegs...a "THX" shop hosted on a free server...and only payable through Paypal ?...

Sure the front and back are like mine, but those are pictures you could find anywhere

EDIT: the email address doesn´t work...what a surprise

We get it, you have a REAL THX DVD ... anyone with a lot of money can have one as well, so quit acting so hoity-toity about the whole thing.

The reason for me to stay on this is that I dont like for someone to say to me that I have a bootleg copy off this disc, or any disc for that matter without even having any proof at all to back it up. But I guess thats the way some people are...Im not doing this to brag, and I know that this disc can be had for the right amount of money, and I dont even care if someone got an original for $1...more power to him...its nothing about money...one can always make more money, thats no problem...

I just feel a little provoked by the guy stating it was fake, and I was trying (God knows why) to prove him otherwise...thats about it
