Old Nickelodeon Shows

I did a search but really couldnt find anything. Does anyone know if Nickelodeon is planning on releasing the shows that a lot of us grew up watching.

Shows like Adventures of Pete and Pete, Adventures of the Little Koala, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Count Duckula, Double Dare, Hey Dude, Roundhouse, Salute Your Shorts, You Can't Do That on Television
early Pete and Pete(the short ones), Mr. Wizard, Doug, Clarissa Explains It All
Early Rugrats episodes ,Early All That episodes, Ren And Stimpy, Legends of the Hidden Temple, etc.

i know that Nick has a games and sports channel that reruns Double Dare, Guts, LotHT, etc... But most of these shows are before Nick went down and before it started to suck.

Boy, I would cut off my left arm for "Double Dare", "You Can't do that on Television" or "Pinwheel" on DVD....I know it will never happen, especially in season sets...But, even if they released compilation sets or something at least we would have something. If I could just get a glimpse of these shows to remember them, that would be enough for me.

Adventures of Little Koala was lame-o..

THIS is the GOOD koala cartoon, which ALSO used to be on Nick, although much earlier than the Adventures of Little Koala.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0302211/

It was called "Noozles" here in the U.S.

Noozles was the absolute shit. I'd love to have this, and a bunch of other Nick shows on DVD. My number one most wanted has to be Mysterious Cities of Gold.

wow, that list really shows how low Nickelodeon has fallen.

From true "family fare" to "kiddie kahkah" (and I'm not talking about the lake, )

MTV's kiddie version of TRL has made me lose all hope for the future generations of the world.

Great list except forgot one of my favorite shows (aired around the same time as Third Eye), the Tomorrow People. I have been getting the Tomorrow People DVDs from England, but would definitely not be against a R1 release.

The main shows that I would pick up from Nick are:

Adventures of Pete & Pete (including the shorts)
Fifteen
Third Eye
and Sk8 TV

I watched most of those other shows too, but the above are the only ones that really interest me.

I think you and I have had this discussion before. I was actually thinking about The Tomorrow People as I was posting the list, but I thought it was from PBS (like 3-2-1 Contact!), so I didn't mention it.

Some good stuff about it on this site, though . I haven't seen it in many years, but I still remember:

- The Ballboids,

- The Medusa,

- The Chair Creature, and

- The Sorsons

I must say, I am just a little jealous of your UK versions . . .

PETE AND PETE would be a popular one with all the cameos, but with all the music, it may have rights issues.

FIFTEEN would be interesting to see again as a couple of the stars have since gone on to other stuff. Ryan Reynolds (VAN WILDER) and Laura Harris (24) have since become popular.

I thought maybe some announcement was made, please at least put a question mark at the end of your thread title, if it's going to be a question.

Don't forget "Dusty's Treehouse"! I didn't see it on the big list up there. It was on after the big 4 or 5 hour "Pinwheel" show in the morning in the early 80's.

I forget what the show was really about, but remember it starred a man named Dusty who had puppet friends in his treehouse. I think it was a Canadian show. Anyway.... this thread sparked a memory....

Perhaps, but sometimes remembering them is what makes them so good. Often times I'll watch a movie that I haven't seen for a long time and think "sweet, this movie is so cool!" only to find out that my taste has matured and it isn't as cool as I once thought. So maybe in that respect it's a good thing these will probably never come out.

I'm forced to agree with this, I loved the shows as a kid and I don't want my memory tainted with just how medicore they probably were.

Do you really think that Alanis Morissette would allow episodes of You Can't Do That On Television to be seen again by the public, if she had any say in it?

I Tivoed most of the episodes of Pete and Pete last year, and the quality of the show really was nearly as good as I remembered it. Season 3 was horrible, but the first two seasons were entertaining and brought back the nostalgia factor of growing up in the early-mid 90s.

Of course Pete and Pete could be the exception. Since it's been almost a decade since I've seen any of the shows listed in the first post, I'd be reluctant about rewatching some of them. I remember loving Hey, Dude!, but I've got a feeling that was just the youthful indescretions of quality. Still, these shows deserve a release. Quality be damned, I'd just like to see them again.

Also, although Double Dare would be nice, didn't it have something like 500 episodes? I can see them overcompressing the show to new extremes if it were ever released, which is pretty unlikely.

I videotaped a dozen episodes of "Roundhouse" when it first aired, and then recently converted them to VideoCDs. I watched them to review the quality and I found them to be just as good as they were when I first watched them.

Sure some of the cultural references were a little dated (impersonator voice-overs of George Bush Sr. for example) but the songs, music, dancing, and skits were as funny and entertaining as ever.
