Wasn't it discussed ad nauseum that there is no 2-disc release. That would seem to discredit "a friend very, very, very high up". I would ALSO be surprised if Universal did a total recall instead of just offering replacement discs to those with problems.

You guys amaze me. You hear a vague, second-hand bit of information from a user who registered less than two weeks ago, and you take it as gospel.

There is absolutely NO reason to even begin to give this info any sort of credibility. Hardly even worth replying to (yes I see the irony here).

And to think we used to ship "no go" to Mexico. I wonder how the sales were. ;)

I was obviously talking about the people who didn't question it. The "Glad I didn't buy it" and "Universal sucks" type of comments were what prompted me to reply.

I heard it's because of a deleted scene where Ben Kingsley sings "Que Sera Sera."

Just to clarify, regardless of this particular release, Universal Sucks

This topic reads like a rant from someone who would want this recall to happen, rather then something that will actually take place...

Yep, sounds true to me, if you look at these important parts of his original post.

His friend is very, very, very (3 very's) high up as Universal, thats good enough for me.

The director of Schindlers list was "Spieldberg" and they released the movie on recyclyed cardboard.

Sounds like a recall to me.

Oh and I can't forget about our 11 year wait for a format thats been around since '96.

I have the disk and I'm happy with it, just like my really, truely recalled Ed Wood SE disk.

"Schindler's List" posts are getting ridiculous. If there is a mess up, a recall is justified. As for me, my disc is fine, no errors and the packaging is nice, so I'll keep it. IMO its the first Universal in a while that doesn't blow one.

I heard they're recalling it because of that missing sex scene.

First of all DVD's were announced in November of 95 smart @ss and two, DVD's were being worked on since the late 80's and the first tested version was in 1992.

Secondly, are you saying that you've been sitting and waiting for Schindler's List to come out on DVD since 1993, when the DVD format was just a glimmer in some engineer's eye? No offense man, but that's kinda sad. That's like not buying any DVDs and waiting for Star Wars to be released on HDDVD.

Most of you stole my replies as I was reading this thread.

My first instinct when I read the OP's post was "Danol?"

Then I thought - well, regardless of whether this is true or not, Universal still sucks.

Then I called bullshit.

The packaging does suck, but they're not going to do a recall for that.

And yes, some players have had trouble with this release - so what's likely is that they'll offer replacement discs to those affected, like they have for numerous other releases.

My other response was "Ah yes, I recall Schindler's List on DVD... it's as though it were only a week ago..."
