I second-guessed my collection so many times I actually sold my entire collection about 9 months ago. However, I regretted it ever since, so I decided to start it all over again. It’s not all that bad though, I more than made all my money back selling them, and I can’t believe how many DVD’s were re-released and how many have become so cheap. This time around, I know what to avoid (mainly criterions and bad blind buys since I ended up not liking about 90% of them, therefore I think I’ll be better off. My addiction has returned!

i dont second guess mine but i was wondering why you avoid criterions?

I only have 305 in my collection, but will keep on getting them.
I have bought a lot of used DVD's, I visit 7 different pawn shops every week and I get them for between $2.00 to $10.00.
I have even bought Panic room (superbit) and snatch (superbit) for $5.00 each. thats the only two superbit movies I own ATM - lol..
Sure every once in awhle I get a non-working dvd. so far out of all my buys there have been only two.
there are very few that I have bought when released
(pirates of the Cara- LOTR 2-)
so I am building a nice collection at a very low price.
I really watch a lot of movies over and over again, so I never second guess my collection.
and by buying them as cheap as i do I can buy them blind and if I don't like it, so what, it was almost the same cost as renting it !!!
bought 2 yesterday that were weak ( the big red one and supernova) but a $4.00 each its not a big deal.
anyway my collection has benn built cheaply and I watch them so many times it makes the cost meaningless PLUS my wife watches almost as much as I do !!!

I have nothing against criterions per say. Its just I think I was buying them for them wrong reasons, I was trying to see what all the fuss was about, and see what movies I have been missing all these years. However when it all boiled down, I just didnt like the majority of the movies.

No, I only buy DVD's which I want to own. Doesn't everyone?

I don't have that big of a collection - probably around 180 or so, but I have been selling the ones that have been gathering dust.

I don't second guess it, because I rarely buy new releases anymore. If anything, I will buy TV on DVD and some of the classics. Right now, I am pretty happy with my collection. But there is room for some more selling and I will be doing that soon.

I bought most of my collection when the average cost was $9-$10 for new, nice versions...so when I sell I either make money or break even.

Sometimes I wonder why I buy so many DVDs. I have over 500 counting. But I watch them all at least twice each. Some many times more, so I think it's worth it to buy them instead of renting them.
