Osterman Weekend Directors cut ratio issue.
Anyone have this yet?
On the directors rough cut on the second disc, the ratio appears to default to 4:3 but with very large black bars either side of the screen - essentially it's a totally square picture.
I know this is a rough cut, and apologies are made for the pic quality in the booklet, that's fine. But I have never seen a 4:3 pic that actually has those huge black bars - normaly it's full screen. I cannot change it via my TV settings, nothing works.
And yes, my TV settings are correct, as I say this has never happened before. I have not tried changing my DVD settings, but I should not have to, and have never needed to before.
What's curious is that the snippets of the directors cut that are shown in the making of doc are full screen, so just wondered what gives.
Is this deliberate, or is it a mistake?
Can anyone out there shed any light on this?

Sorry, did not realise this is not officially released until 23rd. Sometimes here in the UK import copies are released up to 2 weeks ahead of time.
Obviously need to wait until you guys start getting your copies.

Won't be out for 2 weeks & I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but it sounds like it's 4x3 anamorphic. Many supplements are done this way. It prevents the picture from being stretched & still gives better resolution. That may not be what you'er describing though. On a 16x9 set it would be 4x3 with bars on the left & right- same as commercials/non-HD material on an HD statio0n.

Yes.
But you need to change them this time. I had the same problem until I changed the playback setting on my DVD player from "16x9 widescreen" to "4x3 letterbox." Once I did, the image filled my 4:3 screen.

Are you watching on a 4x3 tv or 16x9? If it's 16x9, then it's 4x3 anamorphic. If your tv is 4x3 & you're getting black bars on the sides, I don't know what to tell you?
