Judge Dredd - Anamorphic?

I know when this movie was first released on DVD it was a letterboxed version, but I just bought it at Circuit City and I noticed that the cover art has been slightly changed (the "widescreen" banner at the top is gone) and it now lists the widescreen as "Enhanced for 16X9 televisions."

Wouldn't you know, the DVD inside the package seems to be the same one as before - non anamorphic letterboxed widescreen.

So did I get hosed because they threw one of the older DVD's in a box with the new art (for a new anamorphic transfer), or did I get hosed because the new specs on the DVD packaging are incorrect? (In other words DID they actually do a new anamorphic transfer or not?)

Same issue as Good Will Hunting...MiramAxe puts extremely qualified (in charge) people to determine whether a disc is 16/9 or not....in this case I can confirm- Not anamorphic!....maybe some day...

Cheers,
Pro-B

Yeah, maybe with these new re-issues were getting this yr from Disney we'll see a SE. I actually think this is a pretty fun comic-book movie. I'd upgrade to the "double-whammy SE!"

It's interesting, though, that they changed the cover art and CHANGED the specs listed on the back to include "Enhanced for 16X9 Televisions."

Why CHANGE the specs if you're not changing the DVD to a new anamorphic transfer?

Even if Disney does release a SE of Judge Dredd is will still probably be non-anamorphic just like the upcoming Ramson SE. Can you believe that Disney would rerelease Ransom without a 16x9 transfer? I guess I'll just have to wait for HD version.
