Das Boot: The Mini-Series (rumored release)
I Just saw on www.davisdvd.com that there will (probably) a new 3-disc version of Das Boot, the entire mini-series made for European TV. There are no features listed yet.
I have always wanted to see the longer version - woohoo!

cool, I really liked Das Boot. I am assuming the new 3 disc set is for R1.

For June 1...is the Region 1 debut of Wolfgang Peterson's Das Boot: The Mini-Series in its full 6-hour version (the film was actually made for German TV). Currently available in a 210 minute theatrical version (itself a recent "director's cut"), the miniseries will clock in at 293 minutes and will be spread over three discs. Video and audio specs are, as of yet, not known but stay tuned. Retail will be $39.95.

Holy shit, I had absolutely no idea that this was originally a mini-series and it's one of my favorite films... god do I feel stupid. I guess I should start listening to "The making of"'s and commentarys of the movies I enjoy.
Anyways, this is outstanding news. This may be one of the few cases I keep my original DVD after I've double dipped.

To be honest I thought the LFE was severely lacking in Das Boot Superbit. For example, the depth charges just didn't rock the house. U-571 with DTS, however, had earth shattering bass. Das Boot is the far superior film, of course, but I just wish it had better low end.
