Common to having missing discs in a box set?
I ordered the Two Towers 4 disc extended edition last week when Futureshop was having a sale on it for $19.99 CAD. Just got it in the mail today and everything was sealed.
Only problem is when I opened it there was no 4th disc in the set.
Guess I'll have to return it to the store and get an exchange but thought this was kinda wierd.

I have so many unopened titles, but I'm begining to come around to the thinking that you should open all the titles immeadiately to make sure condition of the discs is okay and they are all there.

Yeah this was my first bad experience with a disc. I only have about 100 movies or so but have never had a scratched up disc one one actually missing from the package.
Don't know how they go about putting the discs in but I find it strange one got left out

Believe it or not, sometimes discs are actually pressed into the case by hand! Missing discs are not usually common, but Alias S2 recently had a duplicate disc problem.

I have well over 100 multiDVD sets and so far I've only had a problem w/ the Alien Quad set. So IMHO it's not common.
WRT DVD Josh's comment, I usually open the DVDs ASAP to check them out. I just don't see the point in leaving a bunch of unopened DVDs around

Well, I have not had it happened in a DVD set yet, but it has happened to me once when I bought a GameCube game (F Zero GX). No disc inside. I, of course, had trouble trying to exchange it at BestBuy, even though I brought the game, the wrapping, AND the original receipt from that same morning in to the Buttdarts at the Customer Dis-Service counter... God, I hate that store...
Sorry! Did I digress again?

From: You have moved into a dark place. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
Yeah, they always think you're trying to pull a fast one when the prime component is missing. I had that happen with a CD player - the box felt heavy enough, but only because it had two power supplies in it. Thankfully, I never left the parking lot before checking the box.
I've never had a disc missing, but I have gotten a number of scratched and fingerprinted discs in multi-disc sets and DVD-18s.
I mostly have problems with DVD-18s. One time a disc had a very nice imprint of a Converse All-Star sneaker mark in dirt on the top of the disc when I opened the package.
Those packing plants need to pay their people better. And they should stop taking it out on us just because they're treated so poorly by their employers.

I've had extra discs in my boxsets before, but only one time was I missing a disc: Rolling Stones - Four Flicks. BB gave me shit for it... damnit I detest BB.

Only once did I have an incorrect disc. Opened up Fifth Element only to find a disc of A River Runs Through It. Watched it, then exchanged it. Hey, free rental.

There are special circumstances; I didn't open 'Ed Wood' until I was sure there were no manufacturing defects (that is to say, you know, recall-wise). But usually, I want to open it right away, check the disc, rip that sticker off, and pull out the security tag (unless it's really really impossible to reach) before I put it on my shelf.
