Who, like me, thought Master and Commander was boring & won't buy the dvd?

The first 10 minutes seemed like something GREAT was coming but then it REALLY slowed down. The special edition looks fantastic but I think I will pass. I may be in the minority but who also has the same opinion?

This film was, to me, about the interesting characters and subsequent character development. If you think this movie is going to be about fighting on the high seas in the early 1900's or intending somekind of overblown action flick you will be disappointed.

Since most of us really like the packaging, we'll probably buy it regardless.

People expected Gladiator on water. The trailer seemed to present that as well.

There are more DVD's I don't buy each week than DVD's I do buy. I'm not compelled to start a thread about each of them.

The movie was pretty good, but not as good as I expected. I will be passing on the DVD.

It was mediocre, I'll probably just rent it cause I am interested in the supplements. But it's definately not a movie I could see over and over again.

This does not surprise me. The books do not appeal to everyone either. They have been described as Hornblower as written by Jane Austen. I enjoy them nonetheless. In fact, my gripe with the film was that it tried to get into the action too fast and did not develop characters enough.

I was hoping for an extended edition. I thought the film was a bit rushed and could have used more character development and interaction.

this is why I am very interested in seeing the 'deleted scenes' section of the DVD, there is supposedly some 26min of expository/character development footage.

I was not aware of that. These scenes should have been used in an extended edition. They could only have improved the film.

Who, like me, hates a movie but buys it anyway?

Stupid pointless topic.

Agreed, I fell asleep during the movie in theatres.

Fortunately, M&C was much better!

I'll be buying it.

I found this movie to be pretty boring and there was no real theme behind it. I wasted money to see it in the theatre, will not be wasting money again to buy it on DVD.

Try actually reading the thread. I posted substantial comments in that thread disagreeing with its premise. I did not dismiss the thread concept as stupid and pointless. By the way, smilies do not change the intent of a post

When you say that there was no real theme, what do you mean?
