21 Grams dvd...NO EXTRAS WHATSOEVER!!!
I just read that the 21 Grams dvd doesn't have a single special feature, although Universal might consider the DTS on it as an extra.
21 Grams was one of the best films I saw last year and Universal depriving us of any documentary or "making of" or even a trailer is just sad!!!!

I'm guessing they rushed it to time it as close as possible to the Academy Awards. Then again, the announcement materials from Universal say the following...
DVD BONUS FEATURES:
- 21 Grams: In Fragments
- The Making of 21 Grams

I enjoy extras but I have no problem with this. I'll still get it.

And no insert...

Eh... I don't really have the time for extras anyhoo, I'm not torn up over it... As long as the A/V quality is up to speed, I'm cool...
No trailer though? Really? Huh... That's weird. Source?

Amazon doesn't list any special features either.

Wowsers... Nada, zip, nil eh? Universal... Sheesh... While I personally am not too upset over it, they could add something. Especially at that $26.98 pricing structure...

i was thinking of getting this before when it had extras.. but i really really have to love a film to get a barebones disc.. and i don't love the film that much.. for for that price anyway. it may sound petty but had they kept those few extras they announced i would probably have bought it and now i won't.

Hmmmmm. I was going to make this a Blind Buy, but now I am reconsidering this. Don't wanna buy it only to have a better version available in 6 months.
As long as it has an insert, I'm there!

I love extras a lot, but I love movies even more. Give me a movie properly presented and I would hardly call that "ruined".

A DVD is "ruined" if an inferior transfer is made. A DVD could be considered "ruined" if the film is edited or otherwise altered, or if it is not presented in its original OAR.

I have no problem with this as long as Universal states whether there will or will not be a SE of this film down the road before this barebones DVD comes out.

I agree though, would be nice if we got a heads up on this.

Not so much an SE, but New Line has done it the last 3 years with the announcement of the regular and the Extended Editions of the Lord of the Rings movies and it doesn't seem to have cut into sales all that much,

For what it's worth, the 21 Grams DVD begins with a screen that actually says viewers can skip the trailers by fast-forwarding through them. So Universal has taken the time to insert that message, but hasn't done something as simple as enabling the menu or chapter-skip buttons.
The studio knows that people don't like the forced trailers--hence the added warning screen--so why not just address the issue instead of pussyfooting around it? I think adding the warning message just fans the flames, because it draws attention to the fact that Universal knows viewers don't like the trailers.
