Well, I think the ultimate meaning would be the same... an inferno (firestorm) can imply a chaotic frenzy of destructive power, which certainly can also describe mayhem, pandemonium, etc.
We're both right!

Stray Dog? No fair, I need to start catching up on my Kurosawas. Haven't even bought Red Beard yet...
One silent film I'd love to see them do is The Big Parade. King Vidor certainly should get at least one Criterion movie. That or the old Ben-Hur. Oh, well, maybe next update...

FYI, Turner Classic Movies (and therefore, Warner Brothers) owns King Vidor's significant silent movies. Certainly nothing to worry about, either. The Lon Chaney Collection was a spectacular set.

... As for 1000 Eyes, I've never seen it, but I'm not so sure how much it would 'fit in' with the other two. First, it was made so much later, and second, it's got Gert Fröbe (Auric Goldfinger) as Mabuse, and not Rudolf Klein-Rogge. I can't imagine anyone else as Mabuse but Rudolph, however, I like Gert and would love to see his outing as the diabolical crimelord. I just don't think I would queue it up with the others for a 'trilogy marathon'.

Not that I will necessarily state this correctly, but I believe the 1.19:1 AR on Testament is because some early sound films had to use part of the film frame for the optical soundtrack. I believe Sunrise has a 1.2:1 AR and uses the rest of the 1.33:1 film frame for the sound effects and music track. Later on either the film stock or the equipment (or both) was/were modified to allow going back to the accustomed 1.33 (or 1.37) to one ratio.

I guess I'm the only one who isn't interested in the coming soon title but I was excited to read that Criterion's offering a $15 rebate to people who already own Charade.
