From: You have moved into a dark place. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
If the disc is released later with different extras, it'll go for a tonne on eBay, wrapped or not.

You may as well open it and enjoy it now before you sell it.

Did you think it was an investment? If so, what you really wanted to buy was a CD, not a DVD. Common mistake. I think some people around here still are confused on this point...

(Of course, with rates these days, even CDs aren't all that good of an investment).
Agree, man at most you will double your money, so you make $30.00 big deal... if you are that hard up for $30 then you should not have bought it in the first place... OPEN IT AND WATCH IT!

I hope that guy didn't open the DVD... my broker just called and advised me to put all of my money into unopened Ed Wood DVDs. He said owning unopened Ed Wood DVDs was like buying Microsoft back in the 80's.

Hey guys I did open up the movie. I watched it 2 nights in a row! It is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Thanks for all your input.

i sold off my little 24.99 investment back in the day, and got $2.41 for that beauty on ebay

not bad for sitting on something for a mesely 16 years..

so i say hold off as well, you'll roll in the money later..
As a jackass who collects all types of crap, I can tell you that your example is the exception. It is almost impossible to tell what is going to increase in value over time. The second a new version of Ed Wood (or this one for all I know) is released, it will not be of any additional value.

If it makes you feel any better I had the collector's edition of Akira (black tin Pioneer DVD) and opened it a week after I got it. The point is if the demand is high for the movie then post it on eBay and you'll get your money's worth, even if it's used.

He lost 22.58...I think that's a great example of what happens. Someone who MUST have a film will pay $60 for Ed Wood...the rest of us watch something else. Then when it's rereleased I'll pay $19 and watch mine. If you keep it closed you might be lucky and when the HD-DVD Ed Wood is out you might lose even more $$ than that other lucky fellow.

I was getting ready to post something too.

So much for waiting for the "Oscar boost".

How much are sealed copies of the remake of "Little Shop of Horrors" (with the original ending) going for now that the rerelease (without the b&w deleted ending) has been out for a while?

A lot, considering that that deleted ending is unavailable on any other disc, and that the version *with* that ending was very rare.

Scarcity will always drive the price up. But there are SO MANY Ed Wood DVDs out there now that I don't see this one going back up in price, even if the eventual release doesn't have all of the features of the current (recalled) disc.

Exactly.

There isn't no telling how many of them made it to the streets. I'm sure that it's more than most people think.

I was thinking maybe 2-3,000 escaped the clutches of the Dreaded Corporate Recall Notice.

Anyone else care to share a guess?

I'd say somewhere in the 5,000-8,000 range.

I personally bought and sold just under 200 copies.
