I think I read they were including footage of Genevieve Bujold as Janeway as part of the extras, which is pretty cool considering that sort of stuff is usually buried in deference to the actors. I'm curious to hear what you thought of it. Was it painfully bad?

I had higher hopes for the packaging of Voyager... but I agree with iove about the jigsaw puzzle! Plus I can never get it back in because it always catches on the flap holding the bottom together, and then you have to get that top piece under the half circles.. They really need to hire someone to make a good, practical case! Or just put them all in the thin cases!!
But aside from my hatred of all the Star Trek packagings, this is my first time watching Voyager, and so far it looks like an intriguing show. The DVDs (plain as they are) contain a nice picture and sound all around.
To anyone who's watched the DVDs and bonus features, should I avoid them? (I made the mistake of watching the first season features on DS9 and had a few things ruined for me... more wonderful fore-thought).

How were the Genevieve Bujold scenes?
I started as an intern there around episode #107. They pulled all of the dailies so I was never able to see her scenes. All I managed to get was her costume test screen.

I think even THAT is too much for just 15 episodes, what a rip! I'll wait until Seven of Nine starts appearing to get these.

I hate the packaging, but at least I have the show on DVD. I still can't figure out if the flaps should go over the top half or under the top half of the box. My set came with the front flap one way and the back flap the other way.
The Bujold footage is one of the greatest Trek extras I think. Studios usually bury this stuff and as interested as Voyager fans are in seeing this, it's great that it's included. Obviously, Mulgrew was the better choice, but I thought the Bujold stuff was interesting. I'm sure she would have become more comfortable in the role, but she would definitely have been a much colder captain.

We also get to see just a few seconds of a MALE trying out for the Janeway role. The actor looked to be of Arab decent...what an interesting choice THAT would have been...wouldn't be a bad idea for a NEW Trek show.

If there are still folks that want to buy the season sets, I HIGHLY suggest you go the Columbia House route. This week I ordered DS9 season 3 for just under $50 if I remember my calculations corrrectly. Cheaper than amazon, ebay, and the guy with the employee discount. The only reason I can think of for not going w/CH is if you plan on not buying any other movies ever again.
