is Saving Private Ryan DTS OOP?
I can't seem to find it anywhere online. I know that it did say Limited Edition.
yeah... limited edition... ..
There's plenty of SPR DTS DVDs at my local Best Buy.
Limited to only 100 million units...
It just seems that no store has it anymore. Bestbuy.com, Circuitcity.com, DDD, Amazon, Buy.com, etc. are all out of it.

Columbia House still has it

playcentric.com claims to have the "DTS" in stock as I
write this and if you get there using the bargainflix link below you get the discounted price of $16.70. If you go to playcentric.com directly the price will be higher unless you manually enter the coupon/sales discount code. I have never dealt with playcentric.com so I can't say one way or the other what quality of customer service they may have... Bargainflix link to playcentric.com |
Tom Woodward (DVDanswers.com webmaster) posted information on the Home Theater Forum stating that a 2-disc "60th Anniversary" edition of SPR will be released on May 25. No word on the specs at the moment, but he did say that a DTS track would be included.

From a video and audio perspective, I don't see how it can be improved. The DTS track is arguably the best sounding DVD track ever and the video looks outstanding (the grain was intended).
it'll probably be like the current R3 version, with both DTS and DD5.1 and all the special features across two discs.

That site lists an Unrated, Extended version of Underworld set for release in May! If this unrated material is substantive, I might just pick this up. |
I hope this set will include better extras than the original. Like many of you have mentioned, the previous set is fairly good.
Been holding off adding anything to our site till we had all the details - but we have most of them now including the artwork which I've attached below. Looks identical to the recent region two re-release. Extras include an inside look with the filmmakers, a Looking into the Past: Research, Screenplay and the Vision feature, a Making of a Platoon featurette, a look at the boot camp for the cast, Re-Creating D-Day: Omaha Beach and more.

Sweet! This is Mine come May 25! Thanks Tom for posting the Cover Art.
No problem - don't worry about that massive yellow sticker thing, it won't be on the actual packaging! I bloody hope not anyway ;)
Wow, I may have to triple-dip this one.
actually...this will be a 4th dip for me.
i JUST got the 2 disc set from Brazil. *sigh* |
I'm definitely picking that up. Cool looking case too!
Definitely picking it up, as I never picked up the older release. Looks to be a gem.
I'll be sticking to my dts single disc.

Wish they'd had done this right the first time, double dip time again.

Bonus features have yet to be announced, but my feeling is that this may just be a repackaging of the previous release with a trifle new material thrown in. Retail will be $26.99. |

Can anyone who has the R2 SPR give out an overview of the supplements? Are they any good?

Why is everyone getting so excited? Do you really think DVD's will still be around in 2058 for the 60th anniverssary?
;) |
Experiencing my first 'double dip or not'. I feel happy and angry about this. Might sell it and re-buy it because my current one freeze for 1 second before MG-42 nest rush scene. Nothing devastating but yeah. Should get at least 1/4 of the original price.

Cool packaging - I may have to double-dip on this one.
