French Connection 5 Star is exact same in Box Set correct?

I couldn't really find the definitive answer, but from what I can gather with the info and extras the French Connection I 5-Star from Fox and the French Conection I & II Box Set are the same transfers and all that for the first film? I just want to make sure before I pick up the box set?

Also, is this a great box set to have? Thanks for help.

the only benefit from the box is the sequel.

i've check around stores & i see the french connection 1 is the same with individual release

hope it helps

PS; i also had a chance to rent it at local library (both movies from the box set)...

Buy the box, because French Connection II is not available individually.

Yep, and II isn't AS good as the first, but it can stand on it's own.

I've seen a (purportedly) stand-alone THX Optimized R1 US release of FRENCH CONNECTION II for sale on eBay. The seller seemed perfectly reputable. Can anyone verify that such an animal existed at one point? I realize that FC II is only available nowadays bundled with FC, but was it available separately early in the DVD days?

No, never to the extent of my knowledge. He is probably just selling it out of the Box Set

FC II is available as a standalone film on region 2 I think.
