Most Essential Purchase?

Out of these options which would be your choice to get first? They are all movies I enjoy and want to get eventually but have to settle on only one for now.

Johnny Zhivago 02-18-04 06:55 PM

LOA SB and Citizen Kane...

Mountain Biker 02-18-04 06:57 PM

Indiana Jones

PixyJunket 02-18-04 07:00 PM

Godfather

drjay 02-18-04 07:03 PM

Godfather...Even the third wasn't bad, and the first 2 are both top 25 for me.

LasVegasMichael 02-18-04 07:03 PM

Personally, I voted for BTTF, but only because of the jam-packed extras. I have all that you are seeking except for LOA (have CK).

If you don't already have it, the Die Hard Trilogy (Ultmate Collection) is a must have, IMO.

Good luck!

asianxcore 02-18-04 07:17 PM

Godfather

Simpson Purist 02-18-04 07:20 PM

GF Collection

illennium 02-18-04 07:36 PM

Clearly it would be The Godfather Collection.

nemein 02-18-04 07:41 PM

Of those given I'd go w/ Indiana Jones... that's because it's the only one of the list I have any interest in though ;)

PalmerJoss 02-18-04 08:16 PM

The Godfather I and II are required viewing of any true fan of cinema.

That's the same reason I went with Back to the Future. ;)

Although I do have Citizen Kane, and highly recommend it.

i would suggest opening up a Columbia House account.
LOA:SB (as well as Citizen Kane) is available as an enrollment selection, and several of the others can be used as your fulfillments, making the cost of everything considerably cheaper.

now what are the other 5 selections you should pick? :)

fumanstan 02-18-04 08:47 PM

Buy the one you like the most.

calhoun07 02-18-04 08:57 PM

Good Burger

DavidH 02-18-04 09:14 PM

Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favorite movie of all-time. So, this poll was easy. :)

Darkfriend 02-18-04 09:19 PM

All good flicks but The Godfather Collection is the one I would choose. Not only a classic but essential in any collection IMO .

NaturalMystic79 02-18-04 09:52 PM

I second Good Burger, although from the choices given I'd say Larry of Arabia SB.

TREX1993 02-18-04 10:12 PM

Of these listed, I would go with Indy

The Void 02-18-04 10:51 PM

Indy and BTTF are hard to choose between. I say get both. I voted for Back to the Future because it is probably one of my favorite movies, maybe slightly ahead of the Indiana Jones movies but not much.

collven 02-18-04 11:11 PM

Don't forget that The Godfather is getting re-released in May with a cleaned up transfer. Godfather 2 is coming out later this year, so there will probably be another Trilogy release with the better transfers. I would wait for that and get Indy now.

GMLSKIS 02-18-04 11:14 PM

Indiana Jones Box Set - the only one I like a lot on that list. I used to like Back to the Future but got burned out on it. I Never liked the Godfather and not a big fan of classics other than Wizard of Oz and maybe Casablanca.

gcbma 02-18-04 11:18 PM

Oh, please, you've got to be kidding with these four choices as "most essential." Where's the "None of the Above" option?

games03 02-18-04 11:57 PM

1.) Back to the Future DID NOT stand up well to time. I bought it on release day and sold it soon after. There was none of the pop and sparkle that I remembered. Watching it on DVD didn't feel any differently than watching it on TBS.

2) Indiana Jones is must-own, but get a good price for it.

3.) They're still screwing around with the GF trilogy. Wait.

4.) Lawrence of Arabia is an outstanding film. It absolutely kills Indiana Jones and BTTF and GF is still in the works. Plus. Citizen Kane is GREAT!

Go with 4. Larry and Kane.

This would be my advice also.....along with the option of picking up Lawrence Of Arabia Superbit and Citizen Kane or even Casablanca SE ;)
