Security stickers tearing cardboard snap-case covers
Has this ever happened to anyone else? In trying to remove the security sticker from the cardboard snap-case of new DVD from Image, the sticker ripped up the cover art underneath it, multilating the case. I was very careful and tried from both ends, but it tore up the cover no matter what.
I tried exchanging it at Borders where I bought it, but they told me to contact that manufacturer directly for a replacement. Bummer. I may just have to live with it.

I've had a few tear off the cover underneath (Proof of Life, Saved by The Bell S1-2), but for the most part I've been pretty lucky. You definitely gotta watch out for titles that have been on the shelf a while and the glue has hardened. Just another reason to hate the snapper.

You have 3 kinds of cases for individual DVDs
Snap Case: Cardboard case with plastic hub and snap used by Warner Bros and New Line a few years ago.
Keepcase: the most common and easily identified.
Digipak: Cardboard sleeve which folds open with a plastic tray glued to the inside of the cardboard.

I'd take it right back to Borders and tell them it's a defective disc. Then they'll have to exchange it. If they don't have anymore in stock, they should either reorder it or just give you back your money.
One of my pet peeves is when, in an amary case, the cover is not aligned properly. Sometimes it it up and over the top of the plastic and the security tape is over it. Then when you slowly remove the tape, it tears the top of the cover with it. That just happened to me from a DVD I ordered on Amazon. I sent it back and they sent me a replacement. I just told them it was a defective disc. Hate to lie, but I'm not gonna keep a title that looks like that in my collection.
