The release date is May 4.
I also found the film interesting but didn't love it. I found the story rather uninteresting and self-consciously oddball. However, I do think the dog in this film is perhaps the most endearing animated canine I've ever seen. The film also seemed rather abrupt. I expected it to continue and it was already over. It's still worth catching, but I don't recommend it as the masterpiece that certain critics are falling all over themselves to proclaim.
And a note to filmmakers regarding all the anti-American references (i.e. obese statue of liberty holding ice cream cone instead of torch, or portraying the majority of citizens walking around as so obese that they can't even turn a corner very well): OKAY, WE GET IT!

I don't think the details have been announced yet, just a date.
Off-topic: Saying America is obese isn't necessarily anti-American, it's the truth. America is the most obese country in the world with no signs of slowing. If an American director had used the same imagery, would it be considered anti-American? There's no reason to pretend the problem doesn't exist.

Off-topic: Sheesh, get a sense of humor... Did you notice that De Gaulle had the head of a pig and that they poked fun at everybody?

Hopefully details will be announced soon! Hoping for a good SE! The trailer is absolutely entrancing and the soundtrack kicks ass. It's showing at a theater near me starting today, so I'm gonna catch it tonight!!

I live in an INCREDIBLY small town (Population less then 600) So the chances of a theatre anywhere near me showing it is NIL. But I will buy it on DVD blind, I am certain I will like it based on its oddball status and the trailer. I have always been drawn to the strange....

Giles, get the soundtrack - there are several versions of the song in the trailer and the other tracks are just as good, if you enjoy that sort of '30s jazzy offbeat music.

With this said, the film is VERY charming. If you are region free Nicheflix is now renting the British version.

There's a French 2-disc SE out: http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00009ZT9F
Hopefully they all make it to R1, because it sounds loaded, especially that 38-minute making-of!

Canadian edition is out...
The Canadian edition DVD came out yesterday in a superb 2-disc special edition, an unfolding boxset reproducing the shape of an old upright radio set (the top is curved). From the DVD reviews, I gather that this edition simply repackaged everything that is on the US version on two discs. (Correction: The theatrical teaser and trailer are missing.)

I really love this movie but there are a few "buts".
The anamorphic 1.78 transfer while very flattering for the colours basically crops the top and bottom of the original 1.66 theatrical version. Furthermore, the only way to see the sides of the original picture on a regular overcropped TV (mine is a rear projection Toshiba with progressive scanning DVD player) is to watch it in windowboxed in Full Screen mode in PS. I wish someone somewhere would do something about overcropping by simply windowboxing everything.
And although reviews of the DVD say there is no edge enhancement, I find the picture somewhat unstable and blurry in its ambitious wide pans over cityscapes.
But this does not distract overmuch from the glory, warmth and originality of this animation film.
By the way, the English and French tracks, as far as I can tell (and I'm French) are exactly the same, i.e. French dialogue mixed in with generous portions of Québécois French mumblings (the Triplets and the inhabitants of Belleville). Belleville itself is an architectural mixture of Montreal (Québec) and New York. The chase scenes in those steep streets are obviously inspired by the break-neck narrow slopes of Old Québec City.
