jayson1017 02-09-04 08:52 AM

Awesome!

Mickey 02-09-04 09:04 AM

The sad thing, they probably have gotten a couple a bucks off this already.

DeputyDave 02-09-04 09:20 AM

 Thanks for the link. I just rewound my entire collection.

I think you are their target market.

marty888 02-09-04 09:55 AM

Surprised Blockbuster isn't offering this....

DavidH 02-09-04 10:01 AM

n0fear88,

If you do decide to rewind your DVDs, I suggest buying a separate "DVD rewinder" so you don't wear out your DVD player's laser.

wendersfan 02-09-04 10:09 AM

It's so nice and convenient that they accept PayPal...

steebo777 02-09-04 10:27 AM

Capitalism at its best :)

mookiemeister 02-09-04 10:49 AM

My DVD collection automatically rewinds itself immediately after I finish watching them.

Fok 02-09-04 11:03 AM

I wonder how much money they've made already.

Indeed it is!

jough 02-09-04 11:23 AM

I have a new service that will properly align the bits on a DVD too.

You can't let those bits get out of alignment - after all, when they spin that fast they tend to drift.

tofu 02-09-04 11:28 AM

Nice

They probably also made some people believe that if you spin your dvd on your finger, you can see watch the movie on the disc.

Ginwen 02-09-04 11:29 AM

My favorite part of this:

"Do NOT be fooled by cheap imitations like, "99 cent / 30 second DVD rewind," their service is unreliable and known to damage DVDs."

jiggawhat 02-09-04 12:23 PM

I feel bad for the poor saps that buy it but at the same time they deserve it if they are that dumb!

The same thought crossed my mind.

rabbit77 02-09-04 01:05 PM

This reminds me of the BB employee who swayed a buyer from buying a DVD Burner for their PC because of the shards of plastic that fly off the DVD during the burning process, which can make the PC unstable.

First Rule of Marketing: Never underestimate the stupidity of the buying public.

Sign me up:

Your credit card will be charged only one dollar for each rewind! Pre-pay discounts available at the lowest prices on the Internet!!

Josh Z 02-09-04 02:46 PM

The fact that the web site is called "Uncool Central" leads me to assume this is a gag.

Seantn 02-09-04 02:57 PM

Yeah, guys, uh...it's a gag.

jough 02-09-04 04:31 PM

Do they give people your money back after they don't deliver the software that can "rewind" a DVD?

Otherwise, it's not a gag - it's FRAUD. Let's hope the Uncool people don't serve prison time for their laughs.

JasonF 02-09-04 04:33 PM

A word of warning -- their software does not work on VCDs. Take it from someone who learned the hard way.

ToddJamesPierce 02-09-04 04:44 PM

It would seem that 13 people have so far donated their dollar.

I don't get what you guys are complaining about. I found it to be very quick and easy, and relatively cheap.

Anybody able to supply a link to these guys? I like the fact that theirs will do it in half the time and I can save a penny. I frankly doubt the claim that they will damage my DVD.

jough 02-09-04 05:20 PM

You know, the more I think about this, the more it pisses me off.

I've just dashed off a letter to the BBB and FBI internet fraud divisions.

It's all fun and games until you accept money from someone. Just because people are stupid doesn't mean it's kosher to take advantage of them.

El-Kabong 02-09-04 05:40 PM

Good lord - how anal can you get! Lighten up, it's just a joke.

Wow! Thank you internet Police man! You should hunt down those people selling sealed Xboxes out of the back of their cars that have rocks in the box too! Then maybe you can fight the good fight and stop jaywalking! YOU ARE SUCH A HERO!

Superjough - fighting internet jokes one moron at a time!

El-Kabong 02-09-04 06:00 PM

'Sides - it's not fraud. The web page delivers the service EXACTLY ad described. Pay him a dollar, put a DVD in your computer, and 60 seconds later a blinking "Finished" light goes off. You indeed get everything he details on the page, nothing more, nothing less.

Pants 02-09-04 06:15 PM

And this is not a "gag". It is linked to a very real Pay Pal account that will accept your credit card payment.

Dammit 02-09-04 07:24 PM

I'm tempted to give him a buck just for the cheap laugh. I'll just go lay down until the temptation goes away.

That's most likely where the donations are coming from. Trust me, people who come across this link aren't that stupid.

Precisely!

jough 02-09-04 09:07 PM

I paid their dollar so that I could file a suit claiming that my disc was not rewound.

I'd like to see them try to prove that it was.

I'd like to see you prove that it wasn't. ;)

jough 02-09-04 09:12 PM

It's easy to prove that no physical change has occured. They'd have to prove that they actually provided their service - otherwise they've defrauded me.

Who ever said that "rewinding" requires a physical change? :hscratch:
