what the hell to do with my OOP hitchcock Criterion box set?
Long story short, I now own two copies of Criterions, WRONG MEN AND NOTORIOUS WOMEN box set that recently went OOP. Long story how i ended up with two. One I kept for myself, and the other is still in its original packeging, not opened at all.
I want to get rid of the extra one, but heres the problem: i ordered it from deep discount dvd. THey have a policy where you can't return a dvd after a month. Mine is now over a month by about a week. I called the guy and he stuck to the policy, saying it would be accepted if it was sent less than a month ago. I didn't press the guy at all. Yet at least.
So what should I do?
Sure there is ebay or half.com, but my computer is crap and i'm bad with all that stuff. I really dont feel comfortable selling on ebay.
Unless I can think of something better, or you guys can help me, looks like i'll be holding onto this one for a while.
Maybe the price will shoot up in about a year or so, and I can put it up for sale then.
I'm getting a new computer (a good mac, thank god) in July when I move out for college. By then I should feel comfortable enough with selling online. Ive just had problems with my current computer and don't even trust it to display my email properly.
Any other ideas? Thanks.
Should I see if DDD will make an exception? ARe they usually helpful in that sense?

If you don't need the money right now, I'd just wait and eBay it.
Otherwise, like Fandango said, you can use it for trade bait.

You might check to see if you can get any tax benefits by donating it to your public library, who would be very grateful to either add it to their collection or put it up at a book sale for a ridiculously low price. You would have to really hurry to get a tax discount to be applied this April...
The Exchange is a good idea - trade in a Hitchcock set for the Antoine Doinel set, for instance. But that requires more patience.
Are you looking to just get rid of the box in a way that would benefit the recipient? Or are you trying to make money? Or friends? Or what?
It would also make a hell of a prize in a raffle. However, the people who tend to win raffles are often not the people you'd like to win. But if you have 30 close friends who each have 3 close friends willing to risk $5 each on two tickets...

I have an extra set too. I'll probably hold onto it for a while. Alternatively, I might do a trade for some other Criterion set as I'm not really in it for the money or anything, it was just on sale.

Unopened OOP set, hmmmm......
I'd lock it in my closet with all my other unopened collector's items then sell it when I retire.
I did this with many original Star Wars toys when I was a kid. Sold an X-Wing fighter I had for an amazing price.
