When is it being released?

Anyway YES I WILL buy it sometime, either on release date or soon afterwards depending on my fiances at the time.

I have not seen the film in 10 years. Viewed it at least 5 times on video when it was first released & I was 13. I think it had high rewatchability factor then,as it was a really interesting well made film.

Today I may not watch it 'that' often, not because of the content, but because of the length. It is the type of film you have to make time to sit through the film in its entirity. Yet I am sure I will watch it quite a few times.

Also I can not wait to see it in its O.A.R. finally. one of the main reasons for refusing to view the film for the past decade.

Won't buy it. Great movie, but if I own a DVD I want to be able to watch it many times. It just isn't a movie I would want to throw on all the time.

Once again, amazing movie, but not something I'd own.

Nah, I'll skip it.

I agree its a good movie, but my top criteria when buying DVDs is rewatchability. Frankly watching Schindlers List at least once a year isn't going to happen.

I guess its a statement on how powerful and depressing the movie is.

If you saw it in the theatre, you wouldnt be saying that.

One of the most intense experiences of my life (movie wise).

No,am flat broke & thus have to watch what I spend extremely carefully. Have bills to pay & the usual which keeps people down $$$wise.

Yet I 'may' limit myself to at least a couple purchases this & next month. This month I do plan on buying The Damned since it is uncensored & I always wanted to see it. Then next month, since they are being released on the same day Schindlers List & Myra Breckinridge.

Then that will be all, unless things change $$wise in the next month or two..& I hope that happens

Ahhhh just noticed the typo - FINANCES,not fiances

Good thread.

I thank you all for not jumping all over me with comments like "You must be out of your mind for not buying it" etc.

I just wanted to get an idea of how many people shared my viewpoint on this, and whereas I would say the majority don't, there are quite a few that agree with me.

Still, I am not making a judgement or drawing any conclusions here, that was not the point of the thread, to say who is right and who is wrong, it's a personal choice issue.

What heartens me is that the people who have disagreed have done so in a respectful manner and not made any attempt to be sarcastic or belittle anyone (well, mostly).

You're a fine bunch, and welcome to come over to my house anytime for tea and crumpets.

Wanted to say also another reason I will not buy this one is purely financial. Gotta watch the pennies a little more this year, decided to have a decent holiday, which is going to limit my spending for a while. I bought a LOT of films last year, lots of impulse buying. So this year I am only going to buy movies I absolutely know I want.

On the other hand, if I win the lottery...

I saw Schindler's List in the theater when it came out - very powerful film. I will buy it to watch it again. May not watch it all that much but I do want to have it around.

I watch my LD copy of this every few months. Great, great movie. I'll definitly be picking this one up.

Sad to watch, but important. Wonderful performances and a subject matter that deserves our attention and remembrance.

I do understand why some people can't watch it though. Difficult film to see over and over.

I personally think the black and white makes the film. Just my opinion of course.

No, I am not buying it.

I explained in details why I will avoid this film in the other thread. The film is over rated and just because it deals with a sensitive subject from our past history does not equate in a mandatory purchase.

Not to get too much off subject, but Schindler's List is available as a pre-order for $19.95 from Columbia House which also means free shipping. So, it would make a great fulfillment title -- this is how I'm getting it.

No.

It has no re-watch value.
All of the dvds in my collection I want or feel compelled to watch more than once.
I haven't seen schindler since the theater, and i'm ok with that.

I suppose if I were a spielberg completist I would buy it,
but if I were such a completist I would be stuck owning amistad and some of the crappy movies he produced.

Schindler is a one of a kind experience. I will remember it for a long time. Just not going to re-visit.

I'm trying to get as many great movies into my collection even though I might not re-watch them that much. All I expect is that the package has great extras... that would encourage me to go back again and again... I'm sure Schindler's list will have no commentary by Spielberg... he never does commentaries. Pity.
Anyway - this film with great extras will become a part of my collection.
