Lost in Translation - Yet another DVD with no Insert.

Just picked up my copy of LiT, and big surprise, there is no insert. This seems to be a new trend that (as far as I know) started with Old School. To me the package just seems half empty without the insert. How much could it possibly cost them to include an insert describing the contents?

Cheap, Cheap, Cheap.

focus features is associated with universal/dreamworks and they don't do inserts

QuiGonJosh 02-03-04 12:26 PM

Big deal...inserts dont interest me...booklets on the other hand do...

Something somewhere, on the back cover or inside, listing the chapter titles, would be nice.

There really should be a "One and Only" thread dedicated to the insert issue. Oh wait, there already is!

Just curious, what do you do with that information? I certainly don't want to know chapter titles before I see the movie (because of potential spoilers) and afterward, I think I can find a scene without a title card.

I like to have inserts because I have a Case Logic binder that I keep some of my dvds in. There's a space in the front for an insert and the backside holds the disc.

I usually like the contents detailed. Also, once in a while they have a few pages dedicated to the filmmaking process or History of a film, or something like Liner Notes in (I know this dates me) old vinyl records. It's just a nice addition. Especially since I rarely listen to the commentaries.

Unusual case though.

Was there a disc in the package? :eyebrow:

Anyway, I understand your point.

Worry about the movie, not the rest of the packaging *cough*SPINENUMBERS*cough*

Anything inside the case that is not the DVD is an insert. A booklet is an insert.

I actually got an insert to win a trip to Japan in mine. I don't know if that necessarily counts but thats what came with mine.

Both Canadian and US versions without an insert? (Any other differences?)

Same here.

Sorry to change the topic...maybe not, really, but here goes...

Is this a good rental? Everybody raves about it, and I like Bill Murray anyway. Received four Oscar nominees, but sometimes that doesn't really mean anything.

If you have a color printer, people who want inserts should make their own. In fact, they should also make their own cover since the movie poster on the cover is horribly defaced.

Picked up the Canadian Alliance/Atlantis release today and no insert with mine either. The cover doesn't look nearly as ugly though but it isn't the same as the previous pictures I've seen posted.

It has a gold widescreen bar at the top and the quotes but not the ugly white background and the title has the original text. Has french on it though of course.

It's not that we really need inserts, but for someone who's been collecting dvd's for many years, you just just used to seeing one in a case. I'll admit I'll rather have an insert of anything then just having an empty space there. it just feels cheap.
