Ed Wood DVD is at Borders Books and Blockbuster

Walked in to Borders today when they opened, 2 copies of Ed Wood on the shelf. After I bought them, I asked the customer service folks if they had heard it was not supposed to be released, and they said they didn't get the memo. Price was $23 but it rang up as $19.99

Checked Target next, they didn't have it in, and had no listing of it at all.

Then hit Circuit City, and their master list had a note on it saying that it could not be stocked due to "legal issues with the vendor."

FYE didn't have it either.

Sooooo, go to or call your local Borders and see if you can snap up a copy.

UPDATE: I asked a friend that works at Blockbuster to check on getting a copy. He just called me and said that he picked it up, and that Blockbuster never received a recall notice either. I little more costly though, $29.99

Why?

Not like they're going to take mine away. And Borders doesn't pay their employees well, so I doubt any of them are going to show company loyalty and call the main office.

No doubt. But why make it harder on the next guy who might want one?

Borders doesn't pay their employees well, so I doubt any of them are going to show company loyalty and call the main office.

There's no way to know whether or not the employee is going to report it to his superior, regardless of his pay, so why even risk making things harder on that next guy? We're all in this together. I could have bought all 30 copies at the Best Buy here and let the girl know she couldn't sell any more, even if they HAD them, but there are ways of being a person.

Sigh... whatever. I guess some people like you just have to find SOME reason to bitch at others.

Dude, you're the one who's being a tool by telling the store that they shouldn't be selling something when you know full well how many people want it. I probably wouldn't have gotten into this, but you made this post:

That isn't so helpful...
Why?
Come on dude, you know *exactly* why. I wonder, though, why you'd come on here to *brag* about telling the store that they're not supposed to be selling the thing?

Circuit City told me there was a "studio cancellation".

Best Buy said they had 35 on order and he thought they were delayed due to the weather.

Wal-Mart...nope

Wherehouse Music....nope

Ouch, that hit hard! Really destroyed my argument there, I guess..

I guess some people like you just have to find SOME reason to bitch at others.
If that's what you want to take away from this, okay. But seriously, I'm not suggesting that everyone has to do everything as I do. (but have any of you TRIED?) But my whole deal today was to try Best Buy, buy ONE copy, get out and get on the forums to let other people know where they could get it; WITHOUT having to let store personnel know they messed up. This doesn't HAVE to be some kind of winner-take-all thing. I'd like everybody to get one that wants one, without paying stoopid ebay prices, if possible. That's it.

But really dude.. "Sigh"?

I called Borders last night and they didn't have any. Then I called every Blockbuster video in the area, and finally found one that had it. They had only one copy. I had them hold it for me and I just went to pick it up. $29.99 is pretty damn pricey, but it's worth it to for this DVD.

My Borders said they didn't have any. I'm thinking the stores may be getting faxes today notifying them. I waited an unusually long time after I gave them the title.

In Columbus, OH I was at the Borders on Sawmill Road, but couldn't find it. I called the one on Kenny Rd and they are aware of the "legal problems" so they cannot sell it. The DVD shows up on their website, however, as available at both locations.

My advice is anyone who has a Borders holding it for them should pick it up ASAP.

My buddy in Illinois picked up one for me and one for him, the only two copies left at his local Borders.

Thanks to the original poster for the info!
