What Are Your Hopes For The "Kill Bill" Super Edition?

As I'm sure everyone knows, Miramax and Quentin Tarantino have decided to do Kill Bill on DVD a few different ways. First, release the two Volumes separately on DVD with more or less no extras.

Then, release a super edition with both films and a slew of extras.

This post is to see what you hope to see on the upcoming super set.

As some of you all remember, for the hell of it, sometimes, I create big ideas for DVDs. And for Kill Bill, it's no different.

WTF? Kill Bill's made by Miramax, and they don't even make superbit DVDs, only Columbia does that.

BTW, please use the search button next time, this super duper kill bill edition DVD topic has been discussed to the death already. Do we really need another "what if?"

Didn't you see the name of that one chapter on the documentary idea:

Chapter 5 – Sonny Chiba & Gordon Liu
which would have interviews with QT, Sonny, and Gordon.

knowing how fast tarantino and rodriguez can talk, i would think it would be best to have 3 seperate commentaries with tarantino seperate (rodriguez really didn't have anything to do with the movie) bender, richardson, menke together) and the stars on a seperate track.

Not true.

Besides the RZA, Rodrgiguez is doing the original score for Vol. 2.

Hoping that they get rid of the Black and White scene. The cheesy Jap animation sucked too, but its too late for them to refilm it with live action characters.
The double pane split screen in the beginning with the nurse and the bride also annoyed me.
Nice to see a DTS track.

Nice job, however I've boycotted this whole Kill Bill-Miramax-Weinstein-shakedown. Two movies, bah. Unless both movies combined cost less than $20, I'll be waiting until they show up on the FX channel or some other free channel.

Blasphemer! Production IG's segment was probably my favorite part of the movie. I'm hoping for the Japanese cut of the film, but I'm going to be dipping on this one multiple times ... so I'll undoubtedly have the R2 release before the super edition ever comes out :/

I'd like to see commentary tracks, lots of behind the scenes stuff (special effects documentaries, discussions with the actors), and maybe some of Quentin's TV appearances to promote the movie (his drunk stint on Leno springs immediately to mind). Also, more about Production IG

Wow. I hope you never watch a DePalma film.

It wouldn't make it past the censors if live actors were used.

Cheesy Jap animation? That was some of the finest anime , not to mention it was perfect for the film.

I completely agree. Great stuff there, and definetly my favorite part of the movie. I can't wait for this uber-set to come out.

I'll be happy if there's a director's cut involved.

I think a cool feature would be an option to be able to switch between the black & white and the Uncut (colorized) sequence with the Crazy 88 Killers.

Nice list though, I would definatly buy that.

it was originally suppose to be real actors.

but qt realized that if were to get an R rating that he'd have to animate it because no mpaa person in their right mind would allow a film with such graphic underage sexuality.

same with b/w sequence. mpaa said in color it was too graphic. but in b/w it was artsy.

supposedly tarantino disliked having to make those choices. i personally thought they added some more flavor. man's greatest creativity comes under the tightest contraints. compare rodriquez's el mariachi to spy kids 3d.

I wonder, though ... if the anime sequence was supposed to be live action (which I don't think it was supposed to be; I haven't heard anything to the contrary, at any rate), then why did Quentin say in an interview that he wanted to do sequels to the movie with an anime studio? Additionally, it takes far longer to animate a sequence than to just film it; this, coupled with the fact that he chose Production IG (arguably the best animation studio around now) to do it leads me to believe that it was planned all along, or he came to the censorship realization very VERY early early in the game.

That's going to be sweet, if it ever happens ... I forsee a Vega Brothers on that anime sequel / series, though. There's an interesting interview about IG's involvement here:

My one hope is that I like it more than most of the other QT movies I've seen

Same here. I wouldn't mind a un-rated directors cut, assuming that QT toned some stuff down (maybe the B&W scene) to get an R rating. If the theatrical cuts are just the way he wanted them, then I'd be fine with just them.
