New Criterion Announcement!!
Hello all. My daily Criterion "hacking" has paid off and I have found new cover art for the upcoming Criterion of Robert Altman's 3 Women. I'm sure it will be posted soon.

Oh yes and let's not forget 'Floating Weeds'.

Three Women is awesome, but the dual Floating Weeds looks to be one of the year's best releases.
And its certainly a milestone. Story of Floating Weeds will be the first Japanese silent film to be released on DVD in the US.

They absolutely do the best covers. I wished other studios would respect the movie like they do.

I am not familar with those films but they sound interesting. Great looking covers too. I swear, criterion can really make a nice cover (along with great DVDs of course

I'm a fan of both those directors, so I will definitely be getting these.
I've seen Floating Weeds but not A Story of Floating Weeds - and of course, as already announced there will be an Ebert commentary. Its not in my 5 favorite Ozu films but it is highly regarded, right below Tokyo Story.
3 Women is without question one of the best Altman has done. Its so surreal and haunting and yet is so believable.

I must be the only one around here who really does like Altman's 3 Women! Maybe it's because I had to write 2 tedious papers on it last year, and maybe it's because all I had to watch it on was a pan & scan bootleg VHS, but I really did not enjoy the film at all.
And I'm a big Altman fan!
Eh... I may have to check out the DVD to see the film properly in WS though.
