"In better news today, Koch Vision is going to be releasing a Popeye: 75th Anniversary Collector's Edition on 4/6 (SRP $29.98). The 3-disc set will reportedly contain more than 8 hours worth of classic cartoons featuring the spinach eating sailor. We don't know how complete this collection will be, or what other extras might be included, but we'll post more details (and cover art) as they come in."

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From dvdempire:
86 episodes,
8 hours of the
original King
Features Syndicate
classic cartoons in a
handsome 3 disc pack.

With that many episodes, I may have to get this set.

Just wanted warned everyone. The Popeye cartoons on that DVD are the made for TV Popeye shorts from the 1960's. Supposedly these are bad cartoons.

Warner Brothers is remastering the good Max Fleischer Theatrical Popeye cartoons. I assume Warner will release the Fleischer Popeyes in the future.

Maybe somebody should tell Paramount Betty's 75th anniversary is comming up. You would think Paramount would want to release a Betty Boop DVD set to capitalize on her anniversary.

Paramount can't do a Betty Boop DVD until next Fall (2005).

King Features and WB are supposedly making progress in untangling the rights for the cartoons so they can finally be on DVD. WB should have about 50 of the Popeye cartoons restored by now, so that's enough for a good 4-disc set.

Me too-I see nothing wrong with thev 60's shorts-they were better than the 1989 Popeye shorts.

Just so you all know these are not new transfers or anything but a bunch of public domain cartoons.
