The latter was the one I was thinking of; however, it looks as if they only go as high as 7, not 8. [And they only sell them in lots of about 50.]

I've ordered from the former, they seemed really good.

I still say, two four-packs makes the most sense to me; most of my other TV shows are in at least two different cases (though I consolidate where I can; I re-cased the 'Flying Circus' episodes to be by season, and I've put all three discs of 'The Office' together with space for a disc for the Christmas eps), so it doesn't seem too bad.

I still haven't had a chance to make custom covers, though (one for "Freaks", one for "Geeks").

A Freaks set and a Geeks set! Brilliant! To quote Stephen Hawking, "I may have to steal it."

I'm now reminded of Use Your Illusion 1 and Use Your Illusion 2. Ah, GnR.

When it comes to F&G, I have been on a bit of a rollercoaster lately, and I posted in a less-than-sound state. That said, please disregard my danol-esque incoherent rambling about making cover art for two 4-disk cases to accomodate the 8 disks for the LE.

1. Sounds like a great workaround for no 8-disk cases. Also do-able would be one 6-disc keepcase for the episodes and a double-disk case for the LE supplements. My quotation of Hawking comes, as many things do, from The Simpsons.

2. I don't know why it made me think of Use Your Illusion. I don't even own that/those album(s). Like I said before, "less-than-sound state."

So if you're ever curious what it would be like to lick a toad and post on DVDTalk, don't bother, just read my earlier post. It should convey the feeling appropriately.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go raid a dumpster for dvd cases.

I just got the yearbook yesterday in the mail. It looks absolutely amazing. You can tell a lot of work went into this whole production and for the biggest fans of the show, it seems absolutely worth the $120+ most paid to get it. I ordered mine last Friday, and wasn't even expecting it till next week. This has to be my most expensive blind buy, by far. Hell, it's my most expensive "single" DVD purchase period. And, aside from Chaplin Collection: Volume 2, also the most expansive (8 DVDs!!) set I own.

Okay, so I pop in the first disc, and watch episode one. While the 5.1 sound is expectedly awkward on my surround sound, it doesn't really bother me. I'll probably just continue watching the show without my system in stereo anyway. Anyway, my plans to go see Kill Bill, Vol. 2 postponed until this afternoon, I stayed up all night watching the first 3 discs (minus the last episode on disc 3... a boy gets tired at 6 in the A.M.). I absolutely adore this show now. I am a convert. I grew up in the eighties, but not for high school. And since I was actually born in 1980, maybe I don't totally get all the references, but it doesn't seem to over my head yet. Anyway, I'm glad I bought the set. Now I'm off to the movies to watch some blood and guts and kung fu action... Then right back to F&G.

alright i broke down and ordered the LE, even after watching all of the standard edition. to ebay it goes.

After reading so many amazing raves and reviews of the show on this and several other forums, I jumped in with both feet and ordered the LE Yearbook version of the show. Can't wait for it to show up so I can check it out. Sounds like it's going to be a blast.

Gee - now I need even more time to catch up with all the TV on DVD stuff I haven't watched yet.

How much does the set way when it arives to you, packaging and everything included?

Anyone else think the commentaries on the deleted scenes are terrible? I mean, they add completely nothing to the scenes. I've only heard the deleted scenes commentary for discs 1-3, though, but I doubt it improves. I know they all are goofy, but come on. A lot of time they are just clowning around about the people on screen, and when that's not happening, it's just dead air.

Are the commentaries for the actual episodes better than this?

I agree that the commentaries for the outtakes/deleted scenes could be a bit more insightful. But most of the scenes are short, so there's not a whole of explanation to be heard other than it being cut for time, or the cast/crew laughing while they're reminiscing about the shots.

The regular commentaries fare much better, although the non-stop chattering drowns out the regular audio at times so it's harder to get a grasp at what they're talking about if you're not familiar with the episode or want to hear what a particular character is saying. (I like using closed captioning when playing commentary tracks.) Some of the audio tracks have the actors talking "in character," which is quite nice.

I sure do. Thought it was worth every cent. Besides loving the show, it did bring back too many sentimental memories from that time period, which was why I bought it this. I liked the behind-the-scenes photos and the "autographs" written by the characters; that was a very nice touch.

I even felt this "yearbook" was much better than the real one I got when I was in high school. (It lacked any fun or candid shots and had no witty captions for the photos, making it total dullsville.)

Last night I was in my local Suncoast and they had the 8-disc yearbook edition on sale - for $69.99. They had three of them, and they were up with the rest of the boxed sets. I already own it (paid $120 for it like everyone else), but I'm simply dumbfounded at how myself (and everyone else here) paid $120 for something that was supposedly exclusive when I can walk into my mall - in Mississippi, no less - and find it for $50 less than I paid for it. I was mad for quite a while; it's not really the fact that Suncoast is selling it that bothers me (after all, I got my set more than a month ago), but that they're selling it for so much cheaper. I suppose it would seem to be a mistake since the 6-disc version has an MSRP of $69.99, but, even so, I feel like I've been cheated.

Damn, finding it $50 cheaper @ a B & M store after the creators stated it would only be available via their website will tick off a BUNCH of people, including me.

Anybody who didn't expect that a few stores out of the thousands (or more?) across the country wouldn't figure out some way to put the yearbooks on the shelf was fooling themselves. These things happen. I think all of us were still a far cry from getting "ripped off", and will continue to think so unless and until somebody can provide me with proof that they're in stores all around the country, as opposed to a few flukes. (Even then, I wouldn't think Apatow and Feig were lying.)

My question is, how could Suncoast even afford to sell them for $70? I *would* be slightly upset if it turned out that they were sold the yearbooks at a discount from SRP (as stores always are), but what else can I believe if they're selling it for $70?
