Each set will have two DVD-18s. Same as having four single sided DVD 9s.

Ok... So we are POSITIVE that these will have all the special features of the old Frankenstein discs... right? And we are POSITIVE there won't be any comprimised quality in the video department... right?

I only plan on buying The Frankenstein set, and when it comes out The Invisible Man set (Any new info on that BTW?). I'm a bit of a James Whale nut.

Wrong. On both counts. Until reviews start showing up, we aren't positive of anything. Even the features listed on the web site could be incorrect (as a result of copy + paste from previous features).

If the past few years have taught us anything, it's that Universal's home video department is currently run by brain damaged monkeys. The number of idiotic mistakes and bad decisions made by this company is absolutely mind boggling.

I do not plan to part with ANY of my Universal monster discs until I have the new set in hand to make my own comparisons about picture/extra quality.

Thats true. Until a reviewer gets the discs in hand we won't know 100%. I'm taking the risk and selling early, but I may regret it big time.

Bride of Frankenstein - a rumour of a superior print to the DVD version?

I read somewhere, way back when, that after the first DVD release of Bride of Frakenstein came out, that there had been a new print struck of "Bride" that was far superior to the one used on the first DVD, does anyone else remember hearing this?

When has Universal ever posted specific details on their website that were significantly inaccurate? It is silly to assume that an official website is wrong. For example, the information posted for The Best Of Bud Abbott And Lou Costello Volume 1 is so precise that it correctly lists no trailer for Pardon My Sarong. Bashing studios for everything is becoming a tiresome habit on too many fora.

Well I only have one of the original monster discs, The Bride of Frankenstein (I bought it when it was oop last summer) And have been trying to buy The original Frankenstein and The Invisible Man ever since then.
And the last time I checked on this thread NONE of the extras were going to be on this release.
So just yesterday I was wondering what was keeping this thread so popular and I peeked in to find that ALL the extras plus some new material would be included. So I was just making sure of the details before I broke out the confetti.

You can find the details here:

Monster by Moonlight
I know of the Henry Hull film, but any idea on what "Monster by Moonlight" is?

I assume this is the documentary that was on the OOP Wolf Man DVD. I believe that was the title...

According to DVDTimes, each of the 2-disc sets has one DVD-9 and one DVD-18.

They've also posted the menus!

I am SO looking forward to this set.

That was a great link. Those menu shots have me very excited. I can hardly wait until April 27.

Seeing the menus pretty much confims the features. What will be missing is the The Wolf Man Archives. Which is the poster and still archive and is less than 7 minutes and all the Production Notes and Cast and Filmaker info from all the discs. Not too much too give up for the Legacy Collection and the three new Sommers Featurettes and House of Dracula.

I think that these will sell very well, which leads me to believe that the other classic monster films will follow in a similar format.

I'm really hoping that Universal does well with the low priced classic movie sets like this one and the Abbott and Costello one. Maybe it will get other studios motivated to release more of their classic films in similar fashion.

I'm really hoping a second Monster set comes in October as well.

Wow, after seeing those menu shots, it looks like I might have to buy all three of the collections!

Ebay auctions went pretty well. This is one double dip that will actually be profitable. Even after paying $51 at Amazon for the Legacy set I will still have $100 left over for some more DVDs.

No complaints about double dipping on this one.

Man, I hope this set sells well so Universal will release another set in October.
