Looking forward to this.
Though the quality could be variable, there were some very good episodes.
William Friedkins Nightcrawlers was particularly effective, and Wordplay with Robert Klein was also a goodie ("Donny would not eat his dinosaur").
Cannot remember any more at the mo, must find a listing...

Oh, and Shatterday, with a young Bruce Willis, Her Pilgrim Soul, A Small Talent For War...
I also understand some of the episodes were shortened for showing in shorter time slots in syndication. We only ever got these on vid in the UK, so here's hoping we get the full versions.

"To See the Invisible Man"
"Examination Day"
"A Profile in Silver"
"Gramma" (Stephen King)
"Paladin of the Lost Hour" (Harlan Ellison)
"One Life, Furnished in Early Poverty" (Harlan again)
"The Star" (Arthur C Clarke)
The third season (maybe the second, too) had a lot of work by Joe Straczynski of Babylon 5 fame, and featured an adaption of the sci-fi classic "The Cold Equations."
Give me a minute and I'll try to google up an episode guide or soemthing...
...here we go.

Ah.. but are they going to do the new new Twilight Zone, or are we pretending that one didn't actually happen
Seriously though this is good news. Can't say I recall many of the specific eps but I'll pick it up

Some of the episodes were EXPANDED and made LONGER in syndication in the US, using outakes.
As aired on CBS, there was no specified time for each story. One week, it might be 2 half our stories. Another week, we'd ge'd one half hour story and two fifteen minute ones, etc.
While it is true some of the stories were edited for time in reruns, several more were lengthened! This happened with NIGHT GALLERY, too, years earlier.

The best one was the one with the old woman who could stop time and at the end
And did the new TZ also have that story about the box that will "kill someone you don't know"? That was also great!

Wow, that's FANTASTIC news. The quality was definitely hit or miss with this show, but I'll be picking these up in a heartbeat. Wow, I never thought this would come out. Image rules.
(Now they just need to talk Universal into licensing Alfred Hitchcock Presents, so we can get season sets -- old + new -- of that great show.)

I remember that! I don't think she was "old" though, but that's besides the point. Which one is the one where the boy would just go "Bring!" and whatever he wanted, he got? Then there was "Alter Ego" I think about this guy from the present and girl from the past who talked to each other beside a pond or something...

Great episode. That one sticks in my mind, along with the word play one ("Wednesday... wednesday."). And the one where the Elvis impersonator goes back in time. Lots of cheese, but lots of great stories too. Fun stuff.

Yeah, you push a button on a box and get the TZ '80 dvds, and somewhere, someone will die. Then the box will be given to someone else. ...Or something like that...
It's one of the short ones from the first season.

Oh yeah, I am so there! The 80's TZ - the ONLY version of the show (aside from the original of course) that was ever worth a damn. The movie was "whatever" and the new one just plain out sucks.
Wasn't The Star the episode where a team of astronauts lands on a distant world
Or is that one of the new Outer Limits episodes that I'm thinking of?
That one was a classic.
***EDIT***
BTW, there's a better episode guide here at TV Tome. Yikes - I'd forgotten how many quality writers and directors they had on the show! Harlan Ellison, David Gerrold, Roger Zelazny, Ray Bradbury, Wes Craven, and of course JMS. This thing reads like a Sci-fi geeks A-list roll call!

Although the TZ Button,Button episode was excellent. I don't know how many episodes I remember, but I can't wait to watch that again - I haven't seen it since I was a kid. I'd love to see how it aged on me.

Wonderful, just wonderful! This news, along with the forthcoming Scooby Doo boxset just made my day!
Hopefully Image will include the outtakes and incorporate the extra footage into the episodes which were extended!
Any news on what the cost of the sets will be?

I'm happy that Image is releasing the 80s version of TZ on DVD, but I have some reservations:
Will the episodes be unedited as they aired on CBS or the butchered versions seen in syndication?
Will the original narrator, Charles Aidman, be used or will the redubs by Canadian gameshow lackey Robin Ward (who narrated the Canadian-made third season episodes) be used?
The 80s version was hit-and-miss, but there were a lot of earnest writers and actors on the series, making it a worthy tribute to Serling's classic anthology. If the DVD sets are unedited and remastered, I will buy them!
