Kill Bill Vol. 1 release dates for R1 & R2?

Black Star is Pre-selling Kill Bill Vol. 1, R2 (set for release on 2/9/04). Amazon.co.uk is, also, pre-selling Vol. 1, R2 (set for release on 4/19/04). Then I saw this http://www.everythingtarantino.com/d...7-142013.shtml, that I believe is the region 1 (set for release on 2/3/04). Anyone know the actual region 1 & region 2 release dates?

I'm not aware of an official press release given for the DVD. Hopefully someone can find it if there is one. Also, according to joblo.com Vol. 2 might be pushed back to April.

Sorry about the duel thread Rogue. I did a search before I posted, but that did not come up. I guess I need to refine my searching!

Not a problem...in fact, I thought about putting it here in DVD Talk, but figured since it was basically r2 news, it should go there..

However, a DEFINITVE f'n answer from the studio WOULD be nice!

I saw Tarantino at a Q&A and he said he was planning on doing a box set after Vol. 2 was released, so I'm waiting for that. He also mentioned a re-release in the theater where it's edited into one film, and it will be the Japanese versions.

It sounds like vol. 1, dvd, is being delayed & re-released, in theaters, to show with the release of vol. 2. Not positive, though!

I'm sure not counting on a Feb. DVD release of Vol 1 or a theatrical release of Vol 2 anymore.

Miramax release a unrated (NC-17 rated content) film on home video . I'll believe it when I see it.

It's their crown jewel, QT. They'll do it for him. And they have released unrated cuts before, just hardly none at all.

before you mean they were acquired by Disney/Buena Vista. Since the merger there was a clause that Miramax could not release any film that carried the NC-17 rating or unrated films with equal content, theatrically or on home video.

Too bad. The MPAA seems to have been pretty lenient with QT in the past, but there is no way the Japanese cut of Kill Bill could squeak by with an R rating. The intestine spill (w/ Go Go in the bar) alone would probably prevent an R rating.

What's the difference between the intestine spill in the Japanese cut vs. the American cut?

Correct me if I'm wrong (I saw the two versions almost a month apart from each other back in Oct/Nov), but in the US version, when Go Go slices the guy open in the bar, I think you really just see alot of blood hitting the floor. In the Japan version, after that, you clearly see a bunch of intestines plopping to the floor as well. Is this right, or am I misremembering the US version?

You are misremembering the US version. It's the only version I saw and there were clearly intestines plopping to the floor.

I don't understand their thinking. If they are planning to release the DVD on 4/13, and Pt. 2 on 4/16 (which is the current tenative release date), how does that give the DVD more time to be viewed?

You should have the 1st DVD out around a month before the 2nd part (like LOTR has done with the EE coming a month before the next theatrical film).

There is something more to this. I bet the discs are just no where near ready.
